Greetings, everyone! Today something has happened which I have never before seen. I run FS9 on an old, reliable XP machine that doesn't do much else other than run FS9. It doesn't give me any trouble or problems...very reliable. I love my DC8's...really I do! That being said, today I cranked the computer up and launched FS9. I began my sim at the KSEA default, in the default Cessna. The next thing I did was 'Select Aircraft' where I located my Douglas DC8-62's...and noticed the 'something' that I've never before seen. As I select different airlines, the rotating DC8-62 in the preview window changes appropriately as it should, however each one has door L2 open. The aft door on the port side of a DC8 is referred to as L2, correct? If I select a DC8-62F, not only is door L2 open in the preview window but the large cargo door is also wide open. The cockpit glass is also displayed in a very strange color. Finally, the wings and all four P&W's, regardless of airline selected, appear in a funky, flat grey color. (Aharon, you would not like it!) If I actually select one of the 62's, it appears with door L2 open. It will not close. I tried every 'hot' key. Even 'Shift-E' has zero effect. The DC8-62 (plus F and H) are the only aircraft I am experiencing this sort of problem with. Everything else is running very well. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should start, or what I should or shouldn't do? It goes without saying that I VERY much appreciate everyone's time and consideration. Best Regards, James DFW-TX

My first shoot from the hip answer is that "somehow" your Aircraft.cfg file has been changed or altered. Check the date of the file in Windows Explorer. The date should be fairly old (unless you've added new airplanes lately to your -62 fleet). Don't believe in the supernatural! These things don't just happen. There's always an explanation. Dee

Are you using AI's .... or .... UI's .... or "BOTH".
Just a stab in the dark .... "IF" you're using "BOTH" then I wonder if it's possible that you might have, somehow, got your FDE's (between the two) "cocked-up" ?

That is an AI DC-8, and you have obviously have a standard texture set on it, hence the non textured parts. Theoretically, if you added the standard air file and CFG file from the UI DC-8, you could fly the AI DC-8, but you may have issues with the door controls which are all hard coded XML, along with the flaps so might behave strangely. I don't know as have not tried it. You would need to use the AI texture packs. So basically you are using an AI model with the UI texture set, and only the fuselage and tail will display, possibly with transparency, due to differing alpha channels. Hope that helps. Paul

<gasp> Well, I'm still trying to figure out how it happened, but it sure does look like I accidentally put the AI model file into the wrong folder...shame on me!
I thank everyone for their timely replies! You guys got me looking and I have discovered my error. I am happy to report that all of my 8's are back, and ready to fly!
Man I appreciate all of you guys on the site. THANK YOU!!!
Best, James DFW-TX
