I'm planning on starting a VC for the DC-8 series. I was wondering if I could become a part of HJG to host this. And so I could possibly get the G-max files to fuse the VC with the exterior to make it FS2004 compatible.

Technically speaking, you'd have to build a complete new airplane model. There are some early DC-8 model source files in FSDS format (they can be converted to gmax) available for free download at www.freeflightdesign.org/I hate to throw water on your cooking fire, but you have no idea the can of worms you are opening, trying to create a VC for this aircraft. In short, you'll be building variations of the VC from now until the cows come home. If you've seen one DC-8, you've seen one DC-8! No two are alike, and that is especially true of the cockpit and panel. I'll try to end on a positive note and wish you good luck anyway! Dee

Then comes the 60 and 70, which would be slightly harder.

There are huge difference across the entire DC8 range, I suggest before you tackle the project you get some research in, just look at our DC8 pages to see this differences.

I think Tony's communicated "privately" (on the basis of what I commented to him beforehand) all that really needs to be said on this particular subject .... "from the current HJG perspective" I mean. Then Dee (who's also an authority on DC8's) has stated almost precisely what I'd already related to Tony .... but .... at the very start of his thread he also states "PRECISELY WHY" in particular. FINALLY .... Whilst certain DC8 aircraft type models did share "a degree" of flightdeck comonality .... there "IS/WAS" also a particular saying throughout the real world DC8 community that went something along the following lines .... "IF" one's ever seen a DC8 flightdeck .... THEN .... one's only ever seen one (only) DC8 flightdeck" That comment alone hints at the enormous variety/differences which have existed among flightdecks of these aircraft over the years .... on the basis of both instrument standard and layout .... and also in usually accordance with specific customer/airline/operator requirements/preferences too. And that's the way DC8's "ARE/WERE" Mark C AKL/NZ
