For some reason, the MD83 install I had working with the golding red panel has suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. FS9 reports it cannot load gauges.
the mystery is that it has been working right along, and now doesn't.
anyone else having this problem?

Did you try to re-install the panel core files and the red Golding-panel? Or did you delete something, that the Golding-panel needs (a dll-file or gau-files)?

I did a complete reinstall of the plane, following the instructions to the letter. I have not knowingly deleted anything.
My next move is to download the installer files again, and do another complete reinstall.
My mystery is that one day it works, and the next not.

I wouldn´t have clue .... to be honest.
And don´t know of any other such report either .... that I can immediately recall at least.
What changes, if any at all, have you recently applied to FS2004 ?
What changes/edits, if any at all, have you recently applied to the HJG MD80/90 simulations .... to the panel in particular .... along with any other FDE or add-on module related editing ?
An FS gnerated "CANNOT LOAD GUAGES" error would normally hillite a particular gauge, or series of gauges, but, not normally the whole lot.
Have you recenty unonstalled .... and then .... reinstalled the panel ?
If you have .... then check that you´ve performaed each of the following standard installation steps correctly/as detailed within the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS which accompany the panel ZIP file ....
Pay particular attention to the "MODULES" and "F2004" components of the panel .... and check where you currently have these installed .... since both lots of components go to different FS directory destination folders. Inadvertently installing either one of these components in wrong folder could possibly (and most likely would) result in an issue such that which you´re reporting.
This can´t be a wINDOWS 7 rlated FS2004 issue though .... because I´ve seen this panel working fine in that particular WINDOWS environmenent here in Colombia .... and as I stated above .... I´m not aware (from memory) of any other such similar reports.

OK gents. It's working again. I went back to square one, starting with unzipping all the installers, and went through all the dance steps, and Voila! I had done a reinstall from the previously extracted files with no joy, so just to be another step back did the unzip again.
Was that the reason? Corrupted installers? I doubt it. What made it stop working is anybody's guess. It is the only aircraft in my hangar to have gone amok.
I'll never know just what happened.
I did fail to mention that FSX stopped working altogether necessitating a complete reinstall of it.
I respectfully disagree with the notion that it can't be win 7 related. I have seen too many windows updates step on the most obscure things. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it is curious that fsx failed after several windows updates.
All better now. Thanks for thinking about it with me. I was really curious if it was just me, or if others had seen it as well.
Now I'm going flying!

Glad it´s working again "KELLYB" .... but .... were you intending an FSX install or an FS9 one ? I ask only because your very first posting states "FS9" .... .... where-as your later commentary is in regard to "FSX". What I meant by "it cant be a WINDOWS 7 related issue" is .... The simulation works fine in FS9 (but not in FSX .... it´s not FSX compatible), and within the WINDOWS 7 environment .... upon being installed into that environment .... based on my experience of having installed these simulations in this OS in at least 2 different (language) countries. I "DO" agree that WINDOWS updates .... subsequent to the inmstallation of a/any simulation "CAN" (sometimes) bump things .... because I´ve sen evidence of that myself in the past and regard to other (though non-HJG) simulations. Hi Mark: It was indeed for fs9 that I was having problems with the MD80.
I only mentioned the FSX collapse because it, too, didn't have any obvious reason for dying, and it was coincidental with the windows updates and the MD80 problem in FS9.
Thanks for paying close attention: I see how I may have confused the issue.
