Within the Zip there are only 3 folders Model Panel and Sound along with the cfg and air file and instructions. There is no Aircraft folder. Thanks! cheers scand

"YES" .... we are aware this can happen.
The DC8 ZIP files "were not" prepared by me and are quite old .... from around 2006 or there-abouts.
You should be able to command that a folder "bearing the name of the ZIP file/base pack" be created automatically upon its contents being extracted.
FAILING THAT ....
You will need to create a folder/aircraft base pack folder .... into which the files from the ZIP folder (Model, Panel, Sound .... plus both the AIRCRAFT.CFG and AIR files) will need to be targeted/sent.
This should resolve your problem .... and these files "WILL" be revised upon their next being edited.

Thanks Mark.
Also I went through the cfg file and noticed some sections were missing compared to the earlier versions were missing and I included them. Another question is did the '73 version do away with the tail Jack tail stand? The connector had another use and that was to prevent the fuselage from scraping the runway during take off and during the landing flare.
Also, is there a revised manual or are the earlier ones acceptable?
Thanks!
Cheers

Some commonly represented CFG sections may not be included within some the current HJG DC8 CFG files. This's quite normal .... and anything that's "perceived" to be missing is actually rerpresented (or should be) within the AIR.FILE data for thee simulations. Be very careful what, if anything, is borrowed/added to any CFG (even if it came from an HJG release prior to the curently downloadable version/s .... because it may not now be appropriate and, unwittingly, upset something else. Whatwever was applied to earlier released versions of these simulations (FDE-wise) may not now be suitable for the currently offered versions .... is what I'm warning/advocating here I need to stress .... of all the HJG offered simulations .... the DC8's have actually received "the very least" FDE attention. Whilst some of these have received "some attention" .... since 2006 .... whatever's been applied has been applied only in the interests of panel/gauge performance and compatibility .... in miost cases. I've been .... for quite some time past .... working (slowly) on a DC8 FDE update, for all versions, plus a few extentions too .... BUT .... it's one of those projects that's not a priority (for me) .... AND .... given the number of DC8 versionn involved, this takes much more more time (that some might appreciate) to test, re-adjust where necessary, then test again, and then compile new reference notes/information for. It's quite a lot of work .... given the prioritry of realworls commitments of course There have been no further updates to any the DC8 reference data (can't really call it a manual) compiled "by me" and posted on this forum since 2006 .... and which are currently as follows .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/1566/dc8-panels-installation-handling-notestonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/1563/hjg-dc8-panel-which-planetonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/1564/hjg-dc8-sound-which-planeNew reference data and/or a new manual simply aren't appropriate before I can get the FDE update completed .... and uploaded I can say that any version of the original HJG supplied DC8 manaual ("pre April 2006" .... or pre any of the above references data) is really no longer of any major relevence/value to any of the DC8 simulations currently offered by HJG. So far as I'm aware .... "NO" .... since the DC8-73's are essentially just re-engined/pyloned DC8-63's. I'm not ssure if the HJG DC8's feature this particular detail (I think they do because I recall recent forum comentary about this) .... if they don't, then, they never have, since there's nbeen no alreration (nor can there be in the future either) to any of the DC8 3D modela. I know "none" of the HJG DC8-F modelsv have ever featured a tail stand though .... and which is just the way things are and will remain. Mark C AKL/NZ

All the DC-8s have a tail bumper on the physical model.
