Hi!
I've installed the HJG 727-200Adv aircraft in FSX (Acceleration on Win7/64) and have just noticed a peculiar problem with the fuel pump switches which randomly turn ON after having turned them off and closed the fuel settings window.
Also on the subject, which tanks should be used first (wing or mains)?
Thanks for your great a/c and keep up the good work!

I concurr with what Dan's advised .... BUT .... will add the following technical comments also ....
What you've observed in regard to the fuel system sub panel switches/valves also happens in FS2004 too.
If, after a manual engine shutdown, each of the Fuel System switches (FUEL BOOST PUMP switches, FUEL CROSS FEED switches, FUEL CUT OFF valves are selected off, then, these will each remain "OFF" whilst the Fuel System sub panel stays open .... BUT .... when this sub panel is closed, and then reopened again, then, each of these switches will have defaulted back to "ON".
It's probably born of the fact that the fuel system automatically defaults to "ON" .... simply because these simulations each load into FS with their engines already started/running.
ALSO ....
The fuel system represented in these simulations (unlike that represented in some other HJG simulations) probably isn't modelled with any great degree of fidelity .... SO .... I wouldn't loose any sleep over this observation.
It's just the way it "IS" .... and one shouldn't be disadvantaged by it.
As inaccurate as this may sound .... all one should really concern oneself with is that each of the fuel system BOOST PUMP and CROSS FEED switches are selected "ON" and that the fUEL CUT OFF valves are also selected to "OPEN" .... for manual engine startup .... and which will/should be the case by default anyway .... leaving just the FUEL SHUT OFF levers (on the power quadrant) to be activated (selected "ON"), for each individual engine, during the engine startup proceddures .... and once the engine N2 gauges each indicate approximately N2 20%.
I generally keep as much fuel as possible outboard .... keeping the # 1 and # 3 tanks full/near full .... whilst reducing fuel quantity for the # 2/center tank only .... in accordance with the fuel loading recommendations per my "B727 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDILING NOTES/BASIC FLYING GUIDE" recommendations.
I also like to ensure that each of the 3 CROSS FEED switches remain "ON" too .... regardless .... so as to (assumedly) avoid potential for any fuel imbalance situacion that might otherwise upset inflight trim/balance as fuel is (virtunally) burned off.
That's how everything's intended to work .... at best .... in so far as the way I've been using it and recommending each of these simulations be used since we first released them during 2009 .... I think it was .... or was it earlier thn that ?

Thank you both for clarifying my question and all the info provided!
I use both your 707 and 727 online with FSAirlines and try and tanker fuel from locations with cheaper fuel costs than my main hub (Hellenikon Int. LGAT), so I'll study the material you've given me and figure out the best amount of fuel for each flight.

You'll find the B707/720/C135 SERIES simulations each feature a "very good" custom-built fuel system .... designed by George CARTY .... the author of these great panels. Harerton DORADO has also compiled an excellent FUEL TUTORIAL too .... based entirely upon this particular fuel system and real world data too .... and which can be downloaded from the "BOEING PANELS" dowenloads page. The B727 panels were authored by someone else .... and we (George) simply fixed the original bugs, added other/better features, and othwerwise generally improved these, but, these particular panels, as good as they currently are, don't feature the same degree of systems fidelity/complexity as those for the B707/720/C135 SERIES simulations .... so .... it would be wrong to compare them "systems-wize". I've provided a basic fuel loading recommendation (always based on flying at, or near, MGW only) and which accompanies my "BASIC FLYING GUIDES" .... which form part of each of my "(AYZ aircraft type) PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" postings .... and which, for both the B707/720 and B727, are (at the moment) located on the "ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT" forum page. These notes are quite old now .... and "ARE" in dire need of being updated by me (whenever I get time to do so ) .... BUT .... they should still be none-the-less useful. Mark C AKL/NZ
