Folks .... please read/digest carefully these following notes.
We have just uploaded a new DC8 PANEL CORE FILES package.
This file is for all DC8 panels and replaces the version we uploaded on December 19th 2007.
It is available fo download from the "DOUGLAS PANELS" page of the Downloads section of our website.
This file contains a new/repaired DC8SW.GAU file dated "JANUARY 3RD 2008" .... supported by installation instructions dated "NOVEMBER 2007"
This new file fixes the following reported issues ....
1. We have identified and fixed the FSX related AP performance issue when using trim thumb wheel for climb or descent .... this particular issue did not affect FS2004.
2. We have further improved FS2004 AP performance.
3. We have identified and fixed the problem concerning both vertical and horizontal FD bars in both FSX and FS2004.
4. We seem to have resolved the tendancy for both HDG bug and VOR selector to become jammed at 10 degree increments of selection if moused too quickly or for prolonged periods.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have downloaded DC8 panels we uploaded on December 19th 2007 then all you need do is replace your original DC8SW.GAU file with the new one provided .... IN THIS CASE IT IS A GAUGES/CORE FILES CHANGE ONLY .... THERE IS NO NEED TO REDOWNLOAD THE ANY OF THE DC8 PANELS.
If you have not updated your DC8 panels and gauges/core files since December 19th and are still using earlier version these then we strongly recommend you update immediately .... IN THIS CASE IT IS NECESSARY TO REPLACE ALL YOUR PREVIOUS DC8 PANELS AND GAUGES/CORE FILES WITH THESE NEW VERSIONS .... DO NOT APPLY THESE NEW GAUGES/CORE FILES TO OLDER DC8 PANELS DOWNLOADED PRIOR TO DECEMBER 19TH OR THEY SIMPLY WILL NOT WORK
If you are installling our DC8 panels and gauges/core files for the very first time then installation follows almost standard/routine FS installation procedures/conventions .... IN THIS CASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED WITHIN EACH DOWNLOAD.
These panels and gauges are both FSX and FS2004 compatible.
For further information please refer to the "DC8 PANELS INSTALLATION AND HANDLING NOTES" posting on the "ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT" forum page.
Thanks to my colleagues George CARTY, and Dan HANSEN for their hard work with me resolving all the earlier reported issues.
Special thanks also Luke KREZNOR/"LUKE", and Frank KETTELER/"DUNIX" for their participation with us in working to resolve these issues also .... "THANKS" guys !

Folks .... I forgot to add ....
If using FSUIPC (even in unlicensed form with "MINIMUM/NORMAL DEFAULTS" set) it "MAY" be prudent to uninstall then reinstall this utility when updating with the new DC8 gauges .... otherwise it may not recognise the new gauges date and result problems where none exist at all.
When doing this please remember to shut down and restart FS between uinstalling/reinstalling FSUIPC. This is necessary before any FSUIPC changes can take effect.
PLEASE NOTE: FSUIPC (even in unlicensed form) is necessary for our DC8 panels weather radar to function .... please refer to our "DC8 PANELS INSTALLATION & HANDLNG NOTES" posting on the "ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT" thread for full information regarding this.

OK .... I'm sorry about this .... but .... avoid downloading the DC8 PANEL CORE FILES for the moment. Our own investigations indicate the correct "JANUARY 3RD" dated "DC8SW.GAU" has not uploaded correctly. The file currently downloading is showing a much earlier date and is a faulty gauge. I'm sorry about this ! We'll get it replaced ASAP .... so .... expect yet another announcement ! Sorry ! Mark C AKL/NZ

OK .... folks .... the correct DC8 PANELS CORE FILES now appear to be downloading. I've checked this myself personally and the downloadable file does now contain the latest DC8SW.GAU file dated as follows .... "Thursday, January 03, 2008 11:13:02 AM"Please redownload the DC8 PANELS CORE FILES and replace all your original files. Before attempting downloading I suggest refreshing your internet browsers .... "just to be on the safe side". Check the date of the "DC8SW.GAU" file you download and install is dated as indicated above .... "JANUARY 3RD 2008".Either remove the older gauge files from your FS GAUGES folder and replace them with these new/correct versions .... or .... just overwrite your existing files with these new/correct versions. Forgive me for harping .... but .... I need to spell out the following as clearly as possible .... 1. If you have installed the latest DC8 aircraft panels uploaded on "December 19th 2007" .... then for you this is just a straightforward gauges/core files replacement.
2. If you have installed DC8 aircraft panel versions earlier than "December 19th 2007" .... then for you this is both a DC8 aircraft panel and gauges/core files replacement. In this case you "MUST" replace all previous DC8 aircraft panels and gauges/core files you have installed with these newest versions. Do not try taking short cuts by applying thsee new gauges/core files to old DC8 aircraft panel versions .... "THEY SIMPLY WILL NOT WORK". This will and result in either missing gauges or blank sub panels. Significant chnges have been made to these new panels and their supporting gauge files.
3. If you are installing the DC8 for the very first time .... then for you this is straightforward and routine installation process which follows most established FS conventions. Simply follow the instructions provided within each download. We also recommended installing the latest DC8 Aircraft Base Packs uploaded on "December 19th 2007". This means replacing all older DC8 aircraft base packs with these newest versions. This is desirable because of minor FDE improvements which have recently been incorporated into all our DC8 aircraft files. Please accept our applogies for any previous inconvenience Mark C AKL/NZ

Everything works fine now Mark! Just a small matter of an older file in the download section.
Thanks for correcting it.
