Hiya,
I read the flying guide and handling notes, to try to figure it out, but if someone could explain it to me, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

It's pretty simple/unsophisticated and works follows ....
1. Ensure the AP master switch is selected "ON"
2. Ensure a target altitude value has been entered into the AP "ALTITUDE" window .... and the AP "ALT" tab is also activated
3. Enter a specific ROC/ROD value into the AP "V-SPEED" window .... as required
.... and the simulation will both "AUTO ADJUST" and "AUTO CAPTURE" in response to the selected inputs.
The AP system built into these DC10 panels is pretty basic and works in accordance with established and very simplistic FS protocols.
It's by no means as sophisticated as that which accompanies our L1011 simulations .... so don't go looking for complexity that's just not exitent there .... yet.
This lack of sophistication is something we'd like to be able to try'n address in the future .... fingers crossed !!!!
