George has come up with some nice little surprises for us and for our L-1011 panels.
A more authentic looking 1970's/80's WX Radar set has been created especially for our new DC-10 panels .... and which will also be added to our L-1011 panels too.
This new WX radar set will also feature gyro stabilzation .... resulting in what should be a more authentic painting of weather detections during both climb/decscent and during any banked attitude.
Here's a few images to give some impression of what the new WX Radar set looks like .... and the type of display that will now be presented ....
New WX Radar Screen - "Test Mode" ....
New WX Radar Screen - "Norm Mode" ....
The selector knob located at at the top left of set is used to select range .... from 25, through 50, 100, 150, and 300 miles.
The selector knob located at at the top right of set is used to adjust brightness of the display.
The WX radar set controls are located within the bottom middle of the Center Pedestall sub panel ....
Daylight presentation of the new WX Radar with open Center Pedestal sub panel ....
Nightlight presentation of the new WX Radar with open Center Pedestal sub panel ....
The density of weather indications is this new set/feature is presented in colour ....
This new feature will result in replace of all 4 of our current current L-1011 panels .... and their supporting Panel Gauges/Core Files package too .... since the new WX radar (in these panels .... and for the DC-10's too) is composed of both a new WX Radar sub panel BMP and associated gauges programming.
In order for this WX radar to function it "is" essential to have Pete DOWSON's FSUIPC installed (as is the case with the WX Radar units within each of HJG 's own panels among those we've also imported and modified for use with our own simulations) .... in either non-registered (with "NORMAL DEFAULTS" only option selected) or fully registered versions .... both options work.
There are "only 4" L-1011 panels .... and "1 only" gauges/core files package for these, so, this'll be a very easy replacement .... when the time comes.
It "WILL NOT" be necessary to replace any of the L-1011 Aircraft Base Packs .... these edits "do not" impose any FDE, 3D model, or any other changes .... all of these changes/edits are related to the panel and gauges/core files only.
Each of the 4 new panels will also now feature aircraft registration placards .... which will display the aircraft registration for each add-on texture and in conjunction with whatever is compiled into the FLTSIM.XX based ATC ID data for each texture subject.
Thanks to George CARTY for his brilliance and ingenuity in conjuring up these improvements for us .... "THANKS" George
"DO NOT" .... go running off to the "LOCKHEED PANEL" downloads page seeking these new files.
They "HAVE NOT" been released yet .... and are still undergoing pre-release testing.
