CSA had back in the 60s some years a regular service (2 times a week) from Prague to Jakarta IN TU-104. As the Tu could only fly 3000 km max. it made variuos stops in between: Cairo, Bahrain, Mumbai, Rangoon. So "my" Tu-104 OK-MDE is starting evaluations for the "service": It flew to Cairo and the navigator could see the pyramids of GIZEE: More is in the making. Kind regards Walter P.S.: As in that time the film-material used in Comecon countries was AGFA-Wolfen (GDR) the little greenish tone of the pictures is explained.

Hi Mark:
Why they did such a service one can speculate: All the stops were thence so called "non aligned countries" so political considerations could have a part in it. Also the KLM service to the same countries before WWII had to do with the political and comercial interests of the Netherlands. That service also included various stops in between and went still farther to Australia and that in DC-2´s!
Kind regards
Walter
P.S.: Did not know that FS9 scenery had the pyramides already installed, the manual for FSX did tell me how to find them: go heading 240 from HECA airport.

Yes .... I was quite surprised to discover that too .... I had originally searched for a decent add-on scenery for them, but, didn't find anything to suit "my particular period requirement/s". Like you I plotted a track from that airport to where I thought they should be .... and "LAND HO" .... there they were were slightly off my port bow some several minutes after departure. The M$FS rendition of the Pyramids is probably much more perfect, and cleaner, than they actually should appear, but, with a bit of time of day, weather, and seasonal manipulation within FS I was eventually able to get them to display in a manner I wanted (despite a number of other features associated with them that aren't represented by default in FS) .... and suitable for the purpose I was intending. Hi:
With my DVD (German Edition) came a booklet "Insider Information" on page 11 there are various ideas presented what to do with your FS. The first one is "The Pyramides of Gizeh". It says fly from HECA heading 240 and you will see it. The RASMI 1Z SID for HECA 23L should lead you more or less to have the pyramides to your right side as it demands to fly radial 223 outbound from CVO VOR (115,20) and turn at 20 DME ARC to left. Still did not check it but with CAVOK weather you sould see them.
Kind regards
Walter

Hi friends: As promised: RAMSI 1Z at 15 nm DME before turning left: Copilots view through side window: actual weather of today morning. I disregarded the minimum altitude of FL 60 for my position, was at only 900 m. Kind regards Walter
