This extensive manual contains almost everything one needs to understand in order to be able to enjoy these simulations to the maximum. All of the necessary information in regard to what goes with what, general installation, panel/sub panel descriptions and explanatory details for various systems .... including a number of different tutorials too .... and a basic flying guides are provided. Well folks .... welcome to the re-release of HJG's DC-10 project

4 years have past since we first launched the DC-10's here at HJG .... and it was only within a year of that original release we began to rethink this entire project.

That revision, and the associated effort which has resulted in what we're pleased to be able to offer here today, represents some 3 years (2 years and 11 months to be precise) of work .... thanks entirely to the dedication and efforts of George CARTY, Mike MONCE, and Benoit PLAMONDON aka "the HJG in-house development team".

Our new DC-10 project isn't just a panel revision only.

It's an entirely new project composed of each of the following components ....


- New panels/gauges .... all DC-10 panels and the gauges/core files for them are now "V2".
- New aircraft base packs/FDE .... all DC-10 aircraft base pack files are now "V3".
- New sound packs .... all UI DC-10 sound packs are now "V3" .... with the exception of the AI sound packs which remain unchanged.


The old/original HJG released DC-10 project is now history.

What we're now offering here is 12 new panels (featuring both standard and tape engine instrumentation) and which are "aircraft type specific".

These new panels are both FS2004 and FSX compatible and composed of each of the following features ....


- New captain and F/O view main panel view options with improved gauges
- Aircraft/Engine type calibrated engine gauges.
- Dynamic weight and flap detent calibrated V-REF chart (with auto-updating T/O and landing data).
- Multi-functional AP MCP with both VS and IAS pitch modes, VOR/INS/GPS navigation, and auto approach, and fully automatic dual AP controlled auto-flare/autoland capability.
- Dual AT with Thrust Rating Computer interactivity.
- WX radar with colour display.
- Operating windshield wipers.
- FE panel with functional APU, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fuel system (with both transfer and dumping capability .... and external vapor effects).
- APU and GPU assisted engine startup scenarios.
- New overhead panel with ground support communications.
- New center pedestal panel .... with a new spoiler lever arming and auto-deployment function.
- New panel/gauge night lighting/illumination..
- T/O V-Speed call outs.
- FPDA GPWS altitude call-outs and other alerts.
- FPDA gear wind effect (FS2004 only)
- Both the ability to perform partial or complete cold & dark panel configuration and engine startup options .... as well as default pre-configured/ready to go option (for those whom do, and don't, like systems complexity respectively).

PLEASE NOTE: FSUIPC (either a fully licensed or non-registered version) is required in order for the WX Radar, fuel transfer, and fuel dumping features (only{ of these panel to function.
FSUIPC is "NOT" required in order to actually run any of these DC-10 simulations though.

PLEASE NOTE ALSO: FSUIPC modules are FS version specific (separate files for FS2004 and FSX) .... be sure to select and install the correct version for your FS version of choice.

We're also offering 11 new aircraft base packs too.... each featuring the following ....


- New FDE.
- Some minor model editing.


PLEASE NOTE: Each base pack also contains a "NO HJG PANEL" folder. Inside this folder is an alternative FDE suite (both AIRCRAFT.CFG and AIR.FILE). These replacement FDE files are only to be used should one not wish to use the new HJG panels and prefer using alternative non-HJG produced panels options .... including the old original HJG supplied DC-10 panels too. Be aware though that HJG "WILL NOT" provide technical support for anything other than its own currently downloadable files

And .... we're additionally offering revised/far superior versions of our original UI DC-10 sound packs too. These new sound packs have been recompiled in accordance with FDE parameters of our new DC-10 project and are represented as "separate" FS2004 and FSX specific file versions. Be sure to use FS9 sound packs in FS2004 only .... and FSX sound packs in FSX only.


Now for the do's and don'ts in regard to this new DC-10 project ....

"DO NOT" use any of these new files with our original/old file versions .... this applies to the original/old version base packs/FDE, panels/gauges, and sound packs.

PLEASE NOTE: Our new DC-10 base packs/FDE, panels/gauges, and sound packs are "NOT" compatible with any of the original/old version base packs/FDE, panels/gauges, and sound packs.

"ALL" original/old version base packs/FDE, panels/gauges, and sound packs "MUST" be removed .... and replaced with our "NEW" versions of these files .... preferably per a complete and total re-installation.

The only component of our original/old DC-10 simulations which "HAS NOT" been altered in any way, shape or form are our aircraft textures/liveries. "ALL" original DC-10 texture folders can be added to, or transferred to, our new DC-10 aircraft base packs .... along with their supporting FLSTIM.XX data too .... and without any issues/restrictions whatsoever.

Please .... "DO NOT" take short cuts in regard to the installation/re-installation routines for any of these files. Do it once, Do it right. And do it properly too (to avoid frustration/s) .... aided by our installation instructions which accompany each and every file .... and which are also further supported/explained within our "NEW" (and very extensive) DC-10 manual as follows ....

This new manual goes well beyond just good/sensible installation advice .... to feature a number of different tutorials ranging from the default MSFS pre-configured panel/engines started and ready to go scenario .... to more sophisticated partial or complete manual/cold & dark manual configuration and engine startup scenarios (aided by both written and video tutorials for both APU and GPU assisted engine startup and panel configuration scenarios in particular) .... to taxi, T/O, climb, cruise, descent, approach, and landing .... as well as our usual recommended MGW aircraft loadings and other important technical information as well. This particular manual, like each of our other manuals, will be constantly updated as we perceive any mneed to do so.

These new simulations have been well tested over the past 11 months .... in both FS2004 and FSX .... using a variety of PC's of differing specifications .... and in at least 4 different countries too .... and each one has over time and development been noted to work/function superbly well (if installed and used properly) or we simply would be offering it at all

We hope you'll all enjoy the fruits of our 3 years of labour .... and our new DC-10 project generally .... as much as we've enjoyed producing and bringing it to you all

PLEASE NOTE: There is no point, or sense, in trying to seek technical support for these (or any of HJG's) simulations outside the HJG forum. The knowledge base which has brought each of these simulations into existence and which understands and is best able to support them can only be found "HERE" .... at HJG.

1. All HJG supplied DC-10 Aircraft Base Packs must be used in accordance with the following Panel recommendations ....


DC10 PANEL GAUGES/CORE FILES .... to be used with "ALL" DC-10 Panel versions.

The DC-10 GE CF6-50C turbofan sound pack .... must be used with the DC-10-15 or all DC-10-30 Aircraft Base Packs only.

The DC-10 P&W JT9D turbofan sound pack .... must be used with all DC-10-40 Aircraft Base Packs only.

PLEASE NOTE: these sound packs must be used with HJG supplied DC-10 Aircraft Base Pack/FDE files only. These sound packs will not work as intended if used with the wrong aircraft base Packs .... or non-HJG supplied FDE files. Do not use the wrong panel with the wrong aircraft base packs or audio issues "WILL" result.


3. Again we recommend familiarization with these DC-10 simulations using our new and very extensive DC-10 manual ....

Darren we have to prioritise the uploads and the DC10 files have been in the making for three years! The paints will come hopefully in September, lot of work to do getting the pages done and the paints checked and uploaded to the right places. WE do what we can when we can and it will happen

I think sometimes, us consumers forget that the designers do this unpaid, as a labor of love and it is done in their spare time. I am forever grateful for any scraps that Tony Madge and others are willing to give away for free. Greatly appreciated. I would not know where to start let alone produce anything anybody would think worth having.
