Just a recent (an appreciated) comment, on another FS forum/media, which I'd like to elaborate upon (for everyone's benefit) in order to clear up any remaining misconception/s ....
I'm not prepared to identify the OP, or forum/media, where the above statement was posted (no point in embarrassing anyone publicly .... if such might be interpreted by identifying the party concerned), but again, I do feel a need to comment as follows ....
As is stated within our following-linked FS compatibilities statement ....
WHAT IS AND ISN'T FSX COMPATIBLE
tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8910/fsx-compatible-portable
The HJG supplied B737-300/400/500 simulations are "FS9 native" and are also "FSX portable too" .... and without any known incompatibilities. The keyboard commands required in order to enable various model animations to work (baggage hold doors and forward boarding door with folding air stairs .... there's no main deck cargo door animation compiled into any of the SCD versions of these models .... at least not in regard to the versions of these models which HJG host) are standard FS9 and FSX compatible assignments.
The following video shows one of the B737 simulations HJG offers working "In FSX" ....
tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8815/b737-300-takeoff-lax
We also offer "separate" FS9 and FSX specific sound packs for these simulations too. For best audio playback results ensure the sound pack used is the version intended for one's simulation of choice (don't use an FS9 sound packs in FSX .... and don't use and FSX sound pack in FS9 .... the sound engine in both FS versions is different and the sound packs HJG offer are customized to exploit this). Be sure to also use the correct "B737 aircraft type" sound pack (B737-300, B737-400, or B737-500 versions) with these simulations too .... FDE differences among each of these simulations "forced" the development of "separate sound packs "for each aircraft version" in order to ensure the correct audio tones become evident at the right power settings among other audio considerations as well (FS audio is highly complex .... most don't/won't understand it, so, I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain this in detail .... instead I'm simply going to say "TRUST US" because we know what we're doing and why it's been "necessary" to do, what we have, and the way we have )
Again .... the primary point of this posting is simply to confirm the B737-300/400/500 aircraft base packs, FDE, textures, and sound packs HJG offer "ARE" indeed "FSX portable".
No FSX specific FDE is required .... and which is why such hasn't been included among these simulations .... given it's "not necessary" due what's provided being compatible with "both FS platforms".
INTENDING FSX USERS PLEASE NOTE THOUGH: The PANEL.CFG and SOUND.CFG data contained within the PANEL and SOUND folders for each B737-300/400/500 aircraft base pack offered by HJG are "FS9 ASSIGNMENTS by default" .... so .... FSX users must edit these details to read as "in accordance with the default FSX PANEL and SOUND assignments" as follows ....
PANEL.CFG
[fltsim]
alias=B737_800\panel
SOUND.CFG
[fltsim]
alias=B737_800\sound
Failure to do this, or do this correctly, will absolutely ensure these simulation won't be recognized, or displayed, by FSX. This's a common oversight/error committed by some FSX users of HJG supplied (and other) simulations.
We hope this helps further clarify things .... for the OP (on this other FS forum/medis) and everyone else accordingly
INTENDING FSX USERS PLEASE NOTE ALSO: The B737-300/400/500 panel currently offered by HJG is "FS9 compatible only" (as stated within the installation instructions and our forum based online B737 manual) .... it won't/can't function in FSX. HJG don't currently offer an FSX compatible B737-300/400/500 panel. FSX alternative panels may be available at AVSIM.COM and FS.COM, but, HJG doesn't/can't provide technical support for any of these other options. Always be aware that HJG can only support what it offers "HERE" .... and nly so long as what we offer here hasn't been modified by the end user.

I love HJG, and actually it was my first choice but somehow I never could make the 737s run in FSX
