Sadly a very god friend of mine passed away a few days ago, Fred lived in Hamburg Germany and we built up a long friendship over many years, we shared many interests and Fred and his wife showed me many lovely sights around his city and area, I had the pleasure of showing Fred around my part of the UK also taking him to Duxford where he flew in a Tiger Moth. Fred was very interested in his Amateur radio and flight sim. In 2005 we worked together on a little project the VFW614 model that was available at the time for FS2004. Along with Fred who worked on the panel our own Mark and Benoit worked the sound and Brian Horsey did the FDE work. I just threw some liveries together. The aircraft package is still available at flightsim.com file name vfwpack.zip Rest in Peace Fred and thanks for some great times. A few pics of the aircraft in a fictional livery.

I've still got that .... though have't used it for a while.
Knowing what we know and can do now I'd say it's probably ready for and FDE update.

Yes Mark I reckon so, there was an update released for it a short while after (linked in the file download) pity no new model was ever created for that plane. along with the Canadian C102 Avroliner they are important aircraft in the jetliner history.

There was a C-102 AVRO JETLINER being developed by a guy in Canada .... around 2003/4 I was asked to organize sound options for this project .... which is how I became involved with it. The model progressed .... to a point .... and then suddenly "stopped" and the project ultimately never eventuated. I still have, in my possession, what was last released. I did try contacting the proprietor of this model a few years ago in order to see what could be done in regard to possibly salvage this project, but, he seems to have disappeared right off the face of the earth Mark C AKL/NZ

Hello!
Very interesting Aircract. Never heard about this Type. Download it and gave it a try to fly arround short haule a bit. The reworked Panel works pretty well and is easy to use inflight and also during start up procedures. The updated FDE and Aircraft.cfg also works fine and the Aircraft is flying as it should like in the discrpition. Only the trim setting is very sensitive.Dont forget to put the new sound files from the update file into the Main FS Folder. Otherwise you will have some errors messages while operating the overhead panel.
Cheers Michael
