Hello everyone. I have found that the ATC in FS2004 seems to "ruin" my approach and landing. For example, I did a couple of flights from Miami (KMIA) to San Juan (TJSJ) in a Boeing 707 120. While the ATC guided me pretty well to my island (Puerto Rico), despite bugging me to stay on course (despite me following the VOR signals) I can't say the same for the approach and landing. The commands to descend were alright, but the ATC heading/vectors given to me would simply make me either fly over the airport (and not adjacent to the runway either) or NEARBY the airport. Do any of you get this problem? And what is the remedy? ATC modification? Don't listen to the ATC? I do not think that it is the scenery (I have many from Calclassic) that is causing these problems (though I could be wrong) - flying to and from VORs are relatively accurate even if ATC hounds at even deviating a bit from the Flight Planner course. The heading of my aircraft at most of the airports align with the heading stated on the menu map, and the ones that do not are only 1 or 2 degrees off, hence why I don't believe that it's scenery.

The default ATC "in FS" buggers-up a lot of things In can be quite appalling .... and which is precisely why I won't use it. You'd probably do better to invest in a high quality "ATC ADVENTURE" type of add-on program (if such can still be procured for FS2004) .... but .... I can't recommend one as such. Back in the FS98 days I had a good one (for it's time) entitled "PROFLIGHT 98" (complete with ATC geographic regional accents .... good for flying across virtual European air space and the Caribbean). I believe it made the transition to FS2000 .... and possibly FS2004 too (can't confirm the latter though). I assume if it wasn't later commercially retitled and marketed for FS2004 then it may well have been superseded by another even superior ATC Adventures add-on product. Someone else here might be able to recommend something .... but whether or not it/that something functions in FS2004, and within a "WINDOWS 10" (I understand you use) evinironment tpp, is an entirely different story. Hi Andrew,
There are a couple of fabulous options out there for ATC with FS9, assuming you not looking at an online version like VATSIM. Firstly, if you are after a Payware one, I use PF3 and love it. But if you are after a free one, try Radar Contact v 4 (RCv4). It used to be Payware and I used it for years, but the developer has gifted it to the FS community so you can now get it for free.
Google them to find them and check them both out by searching on YouTube, you won’t be disappointed.
Cheers, Nathan

Hello Andrew;
I have always used the FS9 Flight Planer using VOR's or GPS navigation and have never experienced any problems with ATC vector problems and guidance to the final approach for intercepting the ILS localizer of the destination airport. However, proper descent profiles must be used.
The only issues arise when using AI Traffic where the default FS9 ATC is not very good in traffic separation.
Cheers; Herman

Thank you everyone, I'll check those options and see. For Herman's response, I'll make sure that my descent profiles are "correct" although I believe that they are Cheers Andrew
