Hello everyone. I would like to know if any of you replicate the decades ranging from the 1960s to the 1990s in Flight Simulator. I do replicate a time period, but it's the late fifties, when jets were beginning to fly alongside propeller-based aircraft in terms of carrying passengers. Lately, however, I've been thinking to replicate the "teenage age" of jet travel, ie around the 70s and 80s. Is there any backdated scenery and possibly air traffic AI that any of you use?
Cheers Andrew

Mark, Calclassic was the place that got me into historic aviation (in FS)! I am familiar with the place, although I must say that your Comet 1 post actually led me to Calclassic some years ago (I wanted to replicate 1950s piston AND jet travel). So perhaps HJG was actually the place that got me into historic aviation Anyway, I've decided that I simply want to do a "one-off" flight with the Blue tail liveried Concorde, which gives me a time span from around 1984 to 1998(??). Can you recommend any routes that I can replicate? In terms of scenery from Calclassic... AI traffic I will simply revert to default (until it's time to fly back to the late 1950s and early 1960s but I would like to "fly into airports that resemble the Concorde's era." Cheers Andrew

The routes CONCORDE flew (as scheduled commercial services) were "limited" .... primarily because of the international (and supposedly) environmental politics that arose in regard to its operation through certain regional airspace. BA's CONCORDE routes, by the 1980's/90's, were exclusively London (LHR)/New York (JFK .... although BA services actually commenced into Washington (IAD) during the 1970's), as were AF's too on the Paris (CDG)/New York (JFK) route. The BA aircraft did fly other routes as scheduled commercial services, but, these were during the 1970's and before the 1980's/90's era you're contemplating. Re-enacting the "1970's era" would certainly provide more route variety for you/anyone to consider and some of Tom's 1960's era scenery might also then be "a bit" more authentic to this period too. "IF" this suggestion interests you, then to save me "a bit writers cramp" , refer to my following-linked "CONCORDE - HISTORIC HILITES" presentation on this forum .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/6722/concorde-historic-highlightsWithin the above-linked presentation I mention the routes undertaken by both AF and BA .... as well as operations also undertaken (again by both) in conjunction with code share and other operational alliances/agreements with SQ and BN although these were each very short-lived services. The default FS2004 JFK airport scenery is (I s'pose) "reasonably/acceptably/basically" authentic for 1980's/90's representation. In fact I use it a lot for my own screen shots (it's just convenient in regard to FS the time of day/season lighting I like to exploit for this imagery) and regardless whether or not the subjects I image are operators that serviced this airport. I can't recommend any specific add-on scenery files for the 1980's/90's era CONCORDE serviced airports that may be more authentic ALSO .... if you do decide to re-enact the "1970's era" using BA CONCORDE's (for reason of better variety), then, this .... if you intend focusing on "authenticity" .... would require using the airlines original red tail/Union Jack liveries of that period .... The blue tail "Landor" livery wasn't applied by BA until the early/mid 1980's .... .... and was changed again (to this final scheme) during the late 1990's .... My own image of CONCORDE's "first ever" visit to Auckland (AKL), New Zealand. Low level, low speed, and dirty pass over AKL's 05/23 RWY, prior to landing on April 6th 1986. Bonadventure Travel sponsored around the world tourist charter flight .... operated in conjunction with the 1986 Halley's Comet appearance .... CONCORDE 102 G-BOAB, AKL/NZ, 06/04/86. Hi friends: Air France offered a service Paris-Washington (later: New York)-Mexico City two times a week from 1978 to 1982. The New York-Mexico Part was flown subsonic. Total flight time: 7 hours 22 minutes. The flights arrived Sunday and Wednesday at 19:15 local time and went back next day morning at 08:30. see that: www.eluniversal.com.mx/colaboracion/mochilazo-en-el-tiempo/nacion/sociedad/el-avion-supersonico-que-venia-mexicoKind regards Walter P.S.: The airport of Mexico City MMMX at that time is presented in FS9. For the mountains around it addons are available free in Internet.
