Hello,
I tried using Lonny Payne's MD-80 panels with SGA planes in FS2004 and the heading and course selectors would only turn in 10-degree increments. I read somewhere else that if you just swapped the SGA model for a JCA model file that it would work fine but that made the aircraft disappear from the menu altogether. Does anyone have any advice? I'll post screenshots as necessary.

We/HJG don't offer the SGA MD's and nor do we offer, or support, the Lonny PAYNE MD panels either .... so .... we can't offer specific advice in regard to any aspect of these offerings by other individuals and groups. We "can" offer general advice though and which is as follows .... If the like of HDG and COURSE selectors are functioning in 10* increments in the LP panel then such isn't unheard of "in FS". Two possibilities may account for this .... #1 such can happen with some panels/gauges on "some" (but not all) systems and the permanent fix is usually in the form of a licensed version of Pete DOWSON's FSUIPC module which AFAIK is still available at SCHIRATTI.COM .... or #2 in the case of some panels (again not all) the like of HDG and COURSE selectors feature 2X selection points usually located MM's apart and which enable such selections to be made per either 10* increments (for quicker selection/s), or, per normal 1* increments in accordance with preference. This certainly applies to the B727 and DC-9 panels we offer "HERE" .... I've no idea whether or not such applies to the LP panel/SGA MD-80 model/texture combinations. It's also acknowledged that if one "temporarily" loads any default MSFS aircraft/panel "first" and prior to selecting their FS add-on aircraft/simulation of choice .... then .... a lot of these sorts of issues simply disappear. You're probably best advised to pursue this query directly with the respective developers of the files concerned .... or if they're no longer in existence then seek advice on either the AVSIM.COM, FLIGHTSIM.COM, or SIMVIATION.COM community forums. Beyond the above "basic advice" we/HJG can only offer definitive support in respect of the files "we offer HERE" We "DO" offer our own MD-80/90 flightline though and which (since their recent FDE update) are "pretty good" .... certainly a lot better than what we first released. These models are based on the JCA models .... by virtue of the fact the proprietor of JCA was an active HJG member and provided us with HJG and NBFS specific versions of his originally JCA developed models, but, our simulations vary considerably in regard to their FDE .... and which I feel is "better" .... and I do say that without apparently wanting to "toot our own horn". We "DO" also offer a selection of MD-80/90 panels too .... which are, now and admittedly, beginning to show their age because they're older than the LP versions (but they work fine) .... along with our own customized MD-80 sound packs too, but, which are compiled to run with "the HJG provided FDE". These sounds will run with anything else too .... but .... "not with the audio fidelity we intend by virtue of the fact audio influencing elements within other FDE versions aren't compiled in accordance with ours". Last option/suggestion .... Why not try our/the HJG MD-80/90 offerings .... "THEN" .... we can really help you Mark C AKL/NZ

Forgot to comment in regard to your following statement .... "IF" any add-on aircraft doesn't appear within the FS2004 Aircraft Selection Menu then 9 times out of 10 such is caused by errors/inconsistencies between FLTSIM.XX stated data and the folder names included within any aircraft base pack. 3D models are "extremely unlikely" to affect any panel gauge functionalities .... at least in regard to the issue you've related at least. Screenshots are therefore going to be of no practical assistance Again we can't assist you with this .... unless the files your experiencing difficulties with are HJG data and being used with what we offer "HERE". Mark C AKL/NZ yes I thought HJG and SGA were the same, my apologies. I was trying to substitute the JCA model with HJG repaints as I saw in a suggestion on a different forum (unfortunately I can't find the thread I saw that on) to fix the 10 degree problem.

"NOT" the same .... since SGA is "entirely different". JCA and HJG are similar .... but "different" also. JCA textures can't be applied to the HJG models and vice versa .... although texture mapping of both models may be "similar" it isn't entirely identical. Don't be lured into believing everything someone else posts on another forum .... it's always better to consult directly with the hosts or proprietors of any FS project Nick BOTAMER (whom was an HJG team member) produced both the JCA and HJG MD models (and both DC-9 and B717-200 models too). The HJG MD models are more recent than the JCA versions .... and some of the NBFS MD and B717-200 models (Nicks later venture) were more recent again although AFAIK these are now no longer publicly available. As I stated earlier/above .... such can be a known issue with "some panel gauges" and on some (but not all) systems. The only "SURE FIX" I'm aware of is a paid/fully licensed version of Pete DOWSON's FSUIPC module .... it does feature an option to fix this issue As I also mentioned above/earlier .... "IN SOME CASES" this problem can be resolved by loading a default M$ FS aircraft (even the humble but horrible CESSNA) first and foremost .... letting it stabilize in FS .... THEN .... selecting one's aircraft/panel/simulation of choice. Such action can sometimes resolve this particular issue. Beyond this (basic) advice I once again don't really want to get into discussion concerning simulations/panels/textures that we/HJG don't host .... simply because we're not familiar with what we don't actually offer here. It's important to appreciate no two simulations, even representative of the same aircraft subjects, work entirely alike. Mark C AKL/NZ
