Next up is one of the most secretive of the secret 737s; from 1987 to 1989, it flew for "Keyway Air Transport" out of Rhein-Main Air Base (aka Frankfurt Airport). It was widely speculated that this was some kind of a front for CIA or other special military activity. Originally a standard T-43 with the serial 72-0286, it briefly became N99890 in this anonymous scheme, and later N57JE with the same operator, but in the basic Key Airlines livery. It ended its days as a Janet bird registered N5177C, and was retired in March 2009.

A couple more classic B732's from "the great southern continent .... otherwise known as New Zealand" (that's that big place on the South Pacific map located next to/to the right of those 2 "teeny-weeny islands" that bear the name of "Australia") from the late 1980's era ..... ANSETT NEW ZEALAND B737-2A6 ZK-NEE "City Of Manukau" (1988) .... for the early production/pre-1970 P&W JT8D-9 B737-200 base pack [/img] ANSETT NEW ZEALAND/AMERICA WSEST AIRLINES B737-2U9 ZK-NEF (1989) .... for the P&W JT8D-15 B737-200 ADV base pack [/img] A little bit about these 2 subjects/ANSETT NEW ZEALAND generally .... Deregulation of the New Zealand airline industry from the mid 1980's resulted in a relaxing of restrictions which had, over previous decades, limited both domestic and international competition with government owned NZNAC and AIR NEW ZEALAND (primarily). Australia's ANSETT TRANSPORT INDUSTRIES promptly seized this opportunity to expand its operations into the New Zealand domestic air services market through creation of a subsidiary company .... ANSETT NEW ZEALAND. This airline evolved from the 1984 established NEWMANS AIR (a DHC DASH 8-102 turboprop operator .... and which by late 1986 had (through Australian/ANSETT investment) become ANSETT NEWMANS. ANSETT NEW ZEALAND commenced operations in direct competition with AIR NEW ZEALAND on July 25th 1987. It initially operated 3 JT8D-7 powered B737-100's (acquired from AMERICA WEST AIRLINES through ANSETT WORLDWIDE AVIATION SERVICES leasing arrangements) in company with 2 former ANSETT NEWMANS operated DHC DASH 8-102A turbo-props (which had earlier replaced both NEWMANS AIR DHC DASH 7's). These B737-100's were among first of the type ever produced by BOEING and part of the original 1968 delivered LUFTHANSA GERMAN AIRLINES B737-100 order. ANSETT NEW ZEALAND then acquired a 4th ex AMERICA WEST and JT8D-9 powered B737-100 (also via AWAS) at the end of July 1987. All 4 B737-100 aircraft serviced major cities over the New Zealand domestic network whilst both DHC DASH 8's connected major cities with provincial centers and destinations either not, then, serviced by B737's or which didn't justify B737 capacity. In attempt to compete more effectively with AIR NEW ZEALAND (and cover for the B737-100's during periodic maintenance schedules) .... ANSETT NEW ZEALAND acquired 2 B737-200's during 1988. These became ZK-NEE (an early pre-1970 production and JT8D-9 powered aircraft) delivered to the airline during July 1988 .... and ZK-NEF (a JT8D-15 powered -200 ADV aircraft originally built for, and operated by, POLYNESIAN AIRLINES as 5W-PAL) also delivered to ANSETT NEW ZEALAND during July 1988. Both of these B737-200's were similarly acquired from AMERICA WEST AIRLINES through AWAS leasing arrangements. Only ZK-NEE ever supported the full and definitive 1980's through mid 1990's era ANSETT NEW ZEDALAND livery. ZK-NEF featured a hybrid livery composed of blue AMERICA WEST fuselage pin-striping and dark blue "ANSETT NEW ZEALAND" titles (this aircraft also became the airlines only unnamed fleet member) throughout the entirety of its lease. The ANSETT NEW ZEALAND B737 era was of relatively short duration only. During 1989 the airline embarked upon a fleet replacement program. Its 4 B737-100's and 2 B737-200's were replaced with 3 BAe 146-200's (including 1 combi configured aircraft) between July 1989 and January 1990 .... along with 9 BAe 146-300 aircraft delivered to the airline between December 1989 and February 1997. B737-200 ZK-NEF was withdrawn from service during November 1989 .... and returned to AMERICAN WEST AIRLINES. B737-200 ZK-NEE was withdrawn from service during December 1989 .... and sold to AIR LANKA. ANSETT NEW ZEALAND's 4 B737-100 aircraft were each progressively withdrawn from service during December 1989. All were placed in storage within the USA and scrapped by late 1995 .... though the airlines last -100 (ZK-NED) was sold to PRESIDENTIAL AIR during June 1994 .... then repossessed .... prior to being scrapped. During June 2000 ANSETT NEW ZEALAND was acquired by TASMAN PACIFIC AIRLINES. It became a QANTAS AIRWAYS franchise (operating as QANTAS NEW ZEALAND) on September 4th 2000 but was forced into liquidation on April 20th 2001. Subsequent New Zealand domestic operations under the QANTAS AIRWAYS banner have no relationship with the collapsed QANTAS NEW ZEALAND operation. "NICE" additions to our (now almost complete) South Pacific based B732 flight line Erik Mark C AKL/NZ

Greetings gentlemen,
What a wonderful set of liveries here, been keeping track over the years. I'm enquiring to see if anyone knew where I could download Erik's Royal Air Maroc 727 livery he previewed in 2019? It doesn't appear to be in the 727 downloads section. I didn't wish to revive that old thread so have decided to ask here.
Kind regards,
Adam H

I know/remember the one you mean Erik was preparing that one and at around that time, but as I recall, something happened and he unfortunately "lost it" prior to it being being able to supply it. If he wants to "re-do it" .... then I'll happily accept it for the next release. Erik's decision though Mark C AKL/NZ
