So, I have seen all the buzz about the Jurassic 737s (and saw all the previews). I am contemplating merging a multitude of Indonesian-operated 737s onto the HJG basepacks (the third party textures that I downloaded from here here: flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/3755/fsx-indonesian-boeing-737-200-pack/), but since I cannot confirm if they can be reverse-installed to FS2004 (since these are listed for FSX, not FS9), I don't know if these texture files can be merged onto HJG-supplied basepacks (despite both using Erick Cantu's model). NOTE: Though I am planning to use FSX-Steam when I have the time to install it, but given the quote above taken from the 737-200 manual here, it would be best for me to confirm if these third party textures can be bolted onto the HJG models (and using HJG's FDE and the endorsed TM2 panel). Thanks.

As I stated within the manual: Most non-HJG produced B737-200 textures for the CANTU produced models "should" work with the models we offer. I can say "that much" because I used many such textures over years prior to this HJG release, but, we can't guarantee every such non-HJG produced texture will function similarly with the "edited" models we offer by virtue of the fact we didn't produce these other textures. I now have no need of them anyway .... since every B737-200 texture HJG's so far released, is about to release, and will release in the future are produced by our own painters and for "the model versions we offer". You'll simply have to try these other non-HJG produced textures out with our base packs and for yourself. Understand please HJG does not provide support for files it does not produce The "edited" models we offer "ARE NOT" entirely the same as the original CANTU productions .... and what we offer's an extended flight line of features too as evidenced within the manual. The models we offer "ARE" FS2004 native .... and "ARE" FSX portable too .... and so are each of "our textures" for these models too. Such is all I can confirm. Mark C AKL/NZ

While I'm well aware that these files are out of HJG's jurisdiction of support, I thought that I could wait and see if anyone else has done the same. Well it seems only option about this is that I'll just go dead reckoning and hope no ramifications turn up.

YEP .... that's all you can really do As I mentioned: The B737-200 models we offer are "slightly different" from those of earlier CANTU releases (what we offer remain CANTU's property all the same though). The texture mapping on our models remains the same as those of the original CANTU models .... "so far as we're aware" (key words) .... because for all we know there may have been other models produced by CANTU which differ in this respect (as is certainly the case among his B737-300/400/500 models). Be aware also that finishing on the models we offer may be different from the originals and which could (possibly) impact "other" textures applied to the models we offer. We also produce our own PSD data for these (and all of our own) models too and elements within these may possibly favor the models we offer. COMMING BACK TO CANTU's ORIGINAL B737-300/400/500 MODELS (though the -300 specifically) .... I can say, for a fact, there are some "non-HJG produced" textures out there for the earliest version of these models .... and the mapping is "ENTIRELY DIFFERENT" due to changes CANTU applied to later versions of these same models. Whether or not such applies to his B737-200 models is "unknown to us". I can also say, for a fact, that "non-HJG produced" textures for the CANTU B737-300/400/500 models will appear "matted" (lack sheen) when applied to the models we offer and for the above implied PSD and model finishing reasons. Whether or not such applies to "non-HJG produced" B737-200 textures used with the models we offer is similarly "unknown" to us. Beyond what I earlier replied (above) .... that's about as specific as I can be As you appreciate "non HJG produced files are entirely out of our jurisdiction .... and to such an extent we just don't even bother with them Mark C AKL/NZ

Most of the textures you can find for the later 737-200 Erick Cantu models released and available at most FS file sites will work fine with these new models. The Kittyhawk and SGA series 737-200s have a different file structure and will not work with the newer models. I found MANY textures which will work just fine with HJG s versions. Just have to give them a try as Mark has stated.
