Finally, and after almost a full month of checking/cross-checking/and re-checking, the said texture audit is now complete
As mentioned at the start of this thread ....
A server change came into effect here recently. As a result of this it's not uncommon for some files to be lost during such data transitions. This "DID" in fact happen on this occasion and is just "one of those things" than can and does sometimes occur albeit rarely.
2 files were initially reported missing (to me) by a community member. These couldn't be located on either our (official) Downloads Page or within our Forum Downloads section either. I therefore consider this recent audit to have been "ESSENTIAL" .... in order to verify whether or not any other data was similarly unaccounted for, and if so to what extent, and to then try'n rectify this situation for the benefit of everyone else's (prospective) enjoyment of what our team members each labor to produce.
This (often "bloody frustrating") task involved physically reconciling every individual HJG texture (released since 2006 ....
"YES THE WHOLE BLOODY LOT" .... and when I say that I mean literally
"EVERYTHING") with what's listed within our forum located Texture Lists and both (official) Downloads and Forum Downloads Pages .... and then vice versa too for reasons of additional thoroughness in order to determine precisely which other files might be AWOL. Not knowing how many files might be affected was my immediate concern.
Although it was determined that other files were indeed missing this situation was (thankfully) not as acute as I initially feared might be the case. None-the-less this task "HAD TO BE" performed accordingly.
ANYWAY ....
"ALL" files detected missing from our (official) Downloads Page have now been identified and "REINSTATED". In the case of each reinstatement these files have been added to their respective aircraft type postings on the
"HJG LATEST FILES" forum page .... where links are provided to enable both the previewing and downloading of all files released since January 2023.
This task has also been a good opportunity to further refine (tidy up) the Texture Lists too. As a result these each now reflect what we offer with even greater precision than ever before. When searching for HJG files the recommended practice is as follows ....
1. Use the Forum located Texture Lists to identify all files of interest (make a list of these as you progress) ....
tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/board/29/hjg-aircraft-textures-lists2. Check the "aircraft type" listings (or those for other files) on our (official) Downloads Page first .... and then download to your hearts content.
3. If what's searched for can't be located on our (official) Downloads Page .... then you'll sure as hell find it among the "aircraft type" texture (or other) postings on our Forum Downloads Page.
Our (official) Downloads Page was last updated during "DECEMBER 2022" (as dated on our Home Page) .... MEANING .... all new and replacement files released/added since "JANUARY 2023" are located on our Forum Downloads Page only. One location is just as easy to access and use as the other .... transitioning between either source is no imposition and makes "no difference whatsoever".
The reason for this (minor) file supply imposition has been repeated within all 7 HJG releases between early 2023 and early 2024. If possible I don't (really) want to be repeating myself any more than's absolutely necessary in regard to this particular matter (it "IS" the way it "IS" and will "REMAIN" .... more-so considering close to 1,000 files have now been released per this manner and within the said period), so, if unfamiliar then kindly take time to become familiarize yourself with what's stated within the "ORIENTATION NOTES" associated with each/any of 7 releases (on our NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS Forum Page) over the past year
Having completed this recent audit there's a few details I want to communicate that people (possibly) need to be aware as follows ....
1. Some texture listings within "aircraft type" pages on our (official) Downloads Page do not conform to a pure alphabetical/numerical (date) order. This's "nothing new". It's actually something that's been evident since 2006/7 (per my own silent observations), so, when searching for target subjects to download check the full length of each page thoroughly. This's a "HARMLESS" imposition.
2 Whilst my recent Texture File/Texture List audit/reconciliation has been "very thorough" (everything listed "IS" confirmed "AVAILABLE" or it simply wouldn't be listed) I can't possibly verify the integrity of each individual download link for files located on our (official) Downloads Page .... that's altogether too imposing a task .... though I can guarantee the integrity of every link located within "aircraft type" sections on our Forum Downloads Page (each of which have been verified by myself). In the event any broken links are discovered, then, report these and we'll investigate accordingly. Bear in mind though some PC based Security Protections can interfere with/frustrate downloading processes (something we've no control over of course), so, just because one might experience a particular problem such doesn't mean a problem actually exists with any file being targeted for downloading. In cases of this sort of frustration it's then likely up to the End User to resolve their own issue if we determine no issue/s exist/s that we can positively influence.
3. In a few cases (very few in fact) it's been noted some texture files within "aircraft type" sections on our (official) Downloads Page are "duplicated" (each are the same file though and nothing's cross-linked to an incorrect file .... so far as we're at this time aware). This's been a rare issue since 2006/7 also (which I've once again been silently aware of), so, just be conscious of this detail too. If we attempt to resolve these very rare duplications (under the current circumstances) then we possibly risk bumping other files in the process, so, it's better to not tempt fate and instead just leave everything "AS-IS". This's another completely "HARMLESS" imposition which doesn't affect the quality or running of anything in the least.
4. During this audit I've also observed some of the largest "aircraft type" sections on our (official) Downloads Page may appear/display in a truncated form (uploaded and available data not being displayed and/or the selected page appearing cropped) .... MEANING .... the entire content of these larger pages might not be presented immediately upon first loading attempt. If confronted with this situation then simply refresh your internet browser .... hit
CTRL+F5 a couple of times (or even several times) and such action "WILL" normally resolve this minor imposition.
Think this's all needing to be communicated other than .... (a) "I don't want to have to perform this ("extremely frustrating and time consuming") task again until "next year" (maybe) .... and (b) enjoy the files we freely offer and get back to us in the event of any issues/concerns and which we'll then endeavour to try'n resolve for you or otherwise explain.
