It's the year 1973. Construction of the Peugeot Automotive plant is in progress in Kaduna, Nigeria. Peugeot wants to transport about 150 workers to Nigeria and they have chartered Martinair for the same. Martinair has put one of their oldest and soon to be going out of the fleet DC-8-32 PH-DCD on the job. The aircraft is presently at Amsterdam at the base and will fly to Paris-Le Bourget empty and pick up the workers. MP832 on a busy day at VATSIM Amsterdam. I had to wait 15 minutes to get my IFR Clearance. Had to leave #3 running for power and A/C. Taxiing to the runway Climbout on the SID On final rw 07 We arrived at Le Bourget in an hour. Didn't take any photos owing to the darkness. The aircraft was delayed at the ground for 6 hours due to some passengers not making it on time. Departed LBG at about 0330 Local time with the aircraft at near MTOW and with a 97% fuel load. Sunrise over Algeria Into the tropical region On final approach to Lagos ILS app rw 18L Parked at the gate. The aircraft will now fly back to Le Bourget with workers heading for their vacation back in Europe.

That's a "GOOD" flight report "JOCYRIACV2" .... simple and imaginary (obviously), BUT, "NICE" all the same. Like to see a lot more of this sort of stuff (flight reporting .... in the form of creative or actual historical re-enactment) .... because it better demonstrates what we offer, what can be done with it all (using a little bit of imagination), and presumably the fun that can be had doing so .... along with the added fact of it all being "interesting reading and viewing" too Well done .... IMHO Do "SOME MORE" It's pity we can't instigate some for of competition .... offering a prize (or get an outside party to sponsor a prize) each month for the best flight report/presentation here .... if sufficient interest and (external) co-operation could be solicited to make such work. Mark C AKL/NZ Thank you aerofoto. Sometimes one feels bored trying the regular scheduled airline repaints and feel like flying the charter routes. As you might have noticed, Martinair is a favoured airline of mine. Only when we think out of the box about what better use can these repaints be put to, then we can come up with such ideas for flights. Theoretically you could fly any aircraft anywhere in the world but it would be quite unrealistic to see a KLM DC-9 doing a flight from Delhi to Kabul. So you've to factor in some realism/feasibility there as well. I was actually inspired by some of the trip reports on the Calclassic forums, notably this one: LINKI have more such ideas, but hardly the time as being a new father and also studying for my Chief Mate's examinations takes up a lot of my time. But yes, I shall do them once a while. Maybe we could have a sub-forum with such suggested actual historic charter routings and suggestions for airlines/aircrafts which could fly these routes. That is something like what a Virtual Airline does but setting up and running a full fledged VA is quite a task in itself. Cyriac

Several years ago I undertook the following historic re-enactment .... in real time and at the rate of 1 flight per day, but, those were the days when I had more time for FS given 90% of my FS flying today is dedicated to product development, flight testing, and support and to the extent I often feel like "I'm flying a desk" But anyway .... here's that report/what I did at that time .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8576/boac-london-johannesburg-route-enactmentThat's the beauty of FS though. One can literally do what they want, when they want, and whenever they want (virtual geography related I mean) .... personal time and real world commitments permitting. Hope you're managing to get some sleep aulde son First few months are the worst .... THEN .... 16/going-on-40-years of age becomes worse still Mark C AKL/NZ
