I have to admit, if I could find a spare $3k to get a new computer, and hardware, I would make the jump today. The use of VR headsets is something I've wanted for a long time every since I demo'ed a set a few years back.

I have to admit, if I could find a spare $3k to get a new computer, and hardware, I would make the jump today. The use of VR headsets is something I've wanted for a long time every since I demo'ed a set a few years back. Mike The VR headsets are improving significantly with each new generation, and simulators, be they flight or racing etc are quickly adopting the new technology as well. Unfortunately though for most people, the basic VR setup (on top of a newer PC capable of processing it) puts it out of reach due to the costs involved. For the last 5 or 6 years or so, I've been using a mid range product called Track IR5 (also known as Track clip Pro) It's not a closed off VR setup, but acts like one by tracking the users head movement. It works by attaching a small camera on the top of your screen which "tracks" your subtle head movement via a clip that attaches to either a cap that your wear or a headset. You can fine tune it to make it as responsive as you wish. I initially picked it up to use with combat flight simulators like Rise of Flight, IL-2 and DCS etc, but works just as well with MSFS, and it makes a world of difference panning around the inside of the cockpit and keeping track of targets flying around you. It does take a little getting used to, but having done so now myself, I could never go back to using fixed views via the keyboard or "snap" views via the joystick. The other bonus with the Track IR setup is that it doesn't close you off to the outside world around you and is only a fraction of the cost of a full on VR setup. You can read up more on it at the official website: www.trackir.com/
