Mexico City is always a challenge for long distance airline flights despite its long runways.
7300 feet altitude and high temperatures are eating away the available performance and a nonstop flight to Europe of about 5000 NM would need full tanks for most of the classic airliners. Even with B 747s one had to calculate carefully. But the British long distance airliners were different. The VC 10 was flown nonstop by British Airways to London direct 4806 NM.
Even with a full load she could take off at 25 deg. Celsius.
So, at V rotate the runway end was comfortable still far away:
Climb out over the rugged terrain around Mexico City was no problem:
Turning London direct:
