Hello Mark, I just found out that there was a big update to the textures of the Douglas DC-8, but I just realized that the prototype model does not have the ailerons working. Right now I am testing the prototype model. It seems that they reused the 6.0 model, the ailerons do not work correctly. I want you to tell Paul to check because it doesn't work,

One fundamental correction .... As stated within the release notices .... "NO MODEL UPGRADES OR CHANGES/SWAPS WERE INCLUDED AS PART OF THIS RECENT RELEASE". The content of all aircraft base packs remains "UNCHANGED" .... with the exception of just the "DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958" base pack only and into which a copy of its now "upgraded texture" file was added (to replace the original old texture file) and despite the fact this very same "upgraded texture" has also been released as an individual file for those, whom wish to, to add to their base pack (assuming one's already installed it) and without needing to change anything else The only upgrades associated with this latest release relate to "3X TEXTURE FILES ONLY" .... and nothing else The V6.2 model "IS" used and it's last modified date is correct in accordance with work last applied to it. I've just checked this .... but .... suspect I know precisely what's possibly happened here. During early December 2022 Alex reported the ailerons weren't working with "all" of V6.0 DC-8 models (everything/the lot). Paul fixed this particular issue. The ailerons were rechecked and noted to be working fine and "everything" (again all DC-8 models) were re-released as as "V6.1" during January of 2023. Then during April 2023 "MIRAGEIIIC" reported "an extremely minor" engine related animation and that affected "just the DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F models only" (all other DC-8 models were completely unaffected). Paul fixed this particular issue too. These were engine animations rechecked and noted noted to be working fine also (it was assumed the ailerons still worked too) and these models (only) were then each re-released as "V6.2" also during April 2023. When the "minor" engine nacelles animation fix was applied for what then became the V6.2 DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F models, I suspect this edit might accidentally/inadvertently have been applied to the original faulty V6.0 data, and not the previously aileron fixed V6.1 models (a very easy/innocent mistake to make) .... OR .... fixing the minor engine nacelle animation issues last April may have broken the ailerons again "ON JUST THESE MODELS ONLY" (but nothing else) and which would then account for this particular discrepancy. I'll pursue this matter ASAP but can't indicate how quickly a resolution might be forthcoming. This issue will affect the V6.2 DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F models only .... "but not any other DC-8 models". This issue "WILL NOT" affect the FS performance of these model in any way shape or form. Again .... we'll try'n look at this issue ASAP Mark C AKL/NZ

Hello Mark, I understand what you just explained to me about the models, I investigated the models this morning, I saw that the planes do not work well, the Douglas DC-8 prototype. Douglas DC-8-10 and Douglas DC-8-43F.

The models (all of them) work well in FS .... MEANING .... they each "fly well" in FS .... as I stated within "BOTH" of my last replies. "The only issue" is .... the wing aileron animations are currently "locked" on just 3 of the 8 early DC-8 models only .... but these animations work "perfectly fine" on the remaining 5 models.Again .... this (minor) animation glitch "DOES NOT" affect the way in which these simulations fly in any way shape or form. These animations were fixed and worked perfectly well in the January released V6.1 edit (and which was the actual purpose of that particular edit). It seems the miniscule and April released V6.2 edit might have bumped these animation into not working again (or there's possibly been a mix-up associated with just 3 of these models only) .... and which wasn't detected at that time considering these animations were earlier known to have been fixed. This we have "PROVEN" today. As stated within my very last reply also .... the issue has been identified, and resolved today, and the fixes "WILL BE" released ASAP/as soon as the last of the 3 affected models is cleared. MRC

Although only 3, out of the 8, individual early DC-8 model files demonstrated the said "locked" aileron issue (caused by an innocent file mix-up during their last unrelated edit incidentally), "all" DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958/11/12/21/21F/31/32/33/33F/41/42/43/43F (only) aircraft base packs will be re-uploaded. Best and most thorough way to go about this recovery These files have not yet been released though, but, will/should become available sometime within the next 24-48 hours. Upon re-release file version numbers associated with these re-released aircraft base packs will become "V6.3" .... so that "all" early DC-8 (that's pre DC-8-50) aircraft base packs will then display "the same" updated file version number suffixes rather appearing with oddly numbered file version suffixes. An announcement will be made when these files become publicly available. I'd like to thank Paul HAAK for attending to this so rapidly .... "THANKS" Paul MRC
