Hi friends: My GOD TAESA: A defunct airline, which during its operation had creative advertising ideas like using an old Jetstar parked in front of a shopping mall as ticket counter ahtc360.org/lockheed-l-1329-jetstar/and ended after a crash which finally was the last straw forcing the aviation authorities of Mexico to act. www.yesterdaysairlines.com/airline-history-blog/taesa-pt3-dc-9-disasterInvoluntary I had once the "pleasure" to sit in one of its flights MMUN-MMMX. The airplane was an aging DC-9-31 presumably the bird which some time after my flight crashed. Interesting also, that TAESA operated some time a charter rotation LOWW-MMMX with a B-757, quite a long way (5500 nm 10.000 KM) for that aircraft. Kind regards Walter

Interesting operator commencing services during 1988 as a business/VIP company and which expanded into SKED operation during 1991 .... as one of Mexico's first low-cost airlines.
Fleet-wise and throughout its 9 years of existence (as a SKED service provider) .... TAESA LINEAS AEREAS operated just about everything with the exception of the kitchen sink ....
A300B4-200 ATR 42-320 B727-100 B727-200 B737-200 B737-300 B737-400 B737-500 B757-200 B767-300ER DC-9-14 DC-9-15 DC-9-31 DC-10-30 DC-10-30CF F27 LOCKHEED JETSTAR MD-83 MD-87
A lot of its fleet was flown in multiple variations of the airlines livery .... much of which have been, and continue to be, represented for us here (at HJG) by Eduardo. TAESA eventually fell victim to a combination factors .... ranging from a mid 1990's downturn in the Mexican economy; constant safety, maintenance and security violations/regulatory issues; a major accident (cited by Walter) .... all of which eventually conspired to result in the airlines February 2000 collapse .... and despite CONTINENTAL's interest in acquiring the operation at that time.

Hi friends:
TAESA was not the only one airline founded by a former airline captain, SPANTAX and RYAN-AIR among others also.
Kind regards
Walter

Hi all,
I will add the DC-10s to my to-do list (there are three different ones). I don't know I have forgotten/neglected those DC-10's. Taesa had a very diverse fleet. In fact, they had plans to add 747-300s for flights to Asia with a base in Tijuana but that never came to fruition due to the airline shutting down shortly after the DC-9 accident.
Will post screenshots of these as soon as I have them.
Regards Eduardo
