Flying from Washington to Atlanta on a rainy day making the climb to FL240. Probably taking a junior congressman home for the weekend, or some poor AFL-CIO union rep back to his family after a hard day lobbying (love ya, Dad!). I remember my father driving us to the airport just to watch the planes take off, back when the observation decks at Houston Hobby (KHOU) and Houston Intercontinental (KIAH, now George Bush Intercontinental) were open to the public. The Braniff airliners were my favorites because of the bright fuselage colors. Today's airliners are pretty tame by comparison (well, there are exceptions of course). Ah, the noise, the smell of jet fuel burning and all those beautiful airplanes in the choreography of the taxiways... (One of these days I'll be brave enough to try a reskin - IF I find the proper aircraft, that is)
