Good Lord!
I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and recall seeing Transair's 737-200s, but I never knew they had a 707! Details please! When and for how long did they have it?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Mark They had a Viscount from TCA , also HS.748's and they bought the four Argosys from BEA At that time they were calling themselves Midwest Transair . A 748 bought from Channel at least wore Midwest titles at one point Garry

Very nice repaints ther Ben Here is a brief on Transair Ltd (TZ) 1947: Central Northern Airways, Winnipeg Manitoba 1956: Merged with Arctic Wings as Transair 1969: Acquired Midwest Airlines 1978: Acquired by Pacific Western Airlines Transair flew to Dauphin, The Pas, Flin Flon and Lynn Lake, Thompson, Churchill, Gillam, Red Lake, Brandon, Yorkton, Regina, Swift Current, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Winisk, Ottawa, Montreal, Dryden, Thunderbay, Sault Ste Marie, Toronto, Yellowknife, Whitehorse, Berens River, Poplar River, Norway House, Pickle Lake, Sioux Lookout. The above were the scheduled and bush flying. Extensive charter work. One of the biggies, Summer time charters every week from Winnipeg to Great Bear Lake and Great Slave Lake for the wealthy American fishermen. (DC4 and/or DC6) Winnipeg to Las Vegas was operated every four days initially DC-7C and then the B737. During the 60's and 70's, operated Bellanca Airbus Cruisers DC-3, DC-4, DC-6 Argosys, Vickers Viscount, HS-748, YS-11 the old Bellanca Airbus CF-BTW www.1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/Johannesson/3784.htmand Viscount CF-TGI www.vickersviscount.net/Pages_Photos/PhotosOwnerGallery.aspxDuring the 70's the jet fleet comprised of 3 B737-200/Combi 2 Fokker F28 mk1000 1 B707-349C CG-TAI (Short term lease from Aer Lingus), then it was replaced by 1 B707-351C C-GTAI dedicated to charter flying to the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii in the winter, and Europe during the summer months. Will post some rare pictures of the jet fleet as they became available. In 1973, the first woman to be hired by a commercial airline in Canada flew as a First Officer for Transair on the Fokker F28, and went on to fly on B737s. Benoit
