I find with the common autopilots with the 707s the altitude hold will disengage and throw the ac into a climb with no hope of recovery sending the trim in the complete up position with a change of vor to hdg. This occurs in route not in the initial climb or hold at altitude. What is causing this malfunction....

I have not experienced this or anything at all like it.
Are you talking about using the new B707 panels by George CARTY .... or .... are you talking about just ordinary Microsoft supplied/default panels when you say "common autopilots" ?
We really need more information here !

These are the downloaded autopilots with the 707 packages. I did not have this problem with the DC-8 autopilots!

I also note when I change the wt of the aircraft the CG does not change from the nose in the fuel and payload diagram of the aircraft. Could this be part of the problem?

There shouldn't be a problem.
I most certainly haven't experienced this.
I'm using the FDE data provided with our B707 Base Pack and with George CARTY's new B707/720 panel series with "WINDOWS XP".
I need to know if you're doing the same too.
Just as a matter of curiosity .... What WINDOWS operating system are you using ?

Yes, windows XP and the base packages downloaded from the download page. The problem I notices when I save a flight and then return later. Should that have anything to do with the autopilot. Should I turn the autopilot off before saving the flight and turning off the computer?

Just an idea, as I'm not flying right now:
This panel uses highly customized gauges. Because of that, some parameters may not be saved when you save a flight. Maybe when you reload a flight the fuel boost pumps switches come disengaged. If that's the case, if you're above FL200 the engines will shut off and also the electric supply which in turn may turn off the autopilot. This might be causing this behaviour.
Anyway this is just an idea and might be completely wrong...
