Now .... that's what I call a "NICE COLOURFUL" livery. I've been waiting a long time for this one to come up .... so have a few others too. I think this same aircraft finally finished her days with QUISQUEYANA in the Dominican Republic, with whom she operated in the same basic livery but devoid of "AIR SPAIN" titles .... this was some time around the late 1970's as I recall. GOOD CHOICE Tony ! Mark C AKL/NZ

I just love a challenge! Ok The bird is EC-BZQ c/n 45426 Delivered to Eastern Airlines as N8605 on 8th April 1960. Not sure when taken on charge by Air Spain, but following financial difficulties and an aborted merger attempt with Aviaco, Air Spain ceased operations. The aircraft then went back to the USA where it was parted out in Smyrna ,Tenessee in October 1978. here is a link with some more piccies. www.dc-8.co.uk/5252-5750.htmljust scroll down the list till you come across #45426 Well I enjoyed that little exercise!.... Best regards John

Yes gasman you are indeed correct and the link you provided would be where I first discovered this airframe too. Took alot of googling to locate her though!
I also like that website you linked because it has some very nice photos of about the only vaguely intact ex Pan Am DC-8-30,
I hope shes still there

Don't you worry about that Ben !
There's a hell of a lot of other forthcomming repaint work which I'm currently co-ordinating from behind the scenes.
It just takes time to assemble everything .... whilst still trying to to do everything else I have to do too.

Hi Tony,
I saw the Air Spain 8's many times in my youth - mainly at Manchester where you could get up close and personal on the pier roof. My how times have changed.
They were the dogs danglies to watch and hear starting up (as were Dc8-61's).
One tiny point, forgive me, would it be possible to line up the main door outline with door opening?
Keep up the great work, I'm a huge fan.
Best. Robin
