The first 707-430 that Lufthansa took delivery of in 1960 this one has the rare short tail.

"EXCELLENT" .... I love these rarebirds !
Although the -420 was the first of the B707 line to fly with the tall tail and ventral fin, a small number of early production aircraft were built and delivered with the classic/original short tail .... to both AIR INDIA, and LUFTHANSA.
After the BRANIFF B707-220 accident of October 19th 1959 the tail height of all B707 line aircraft was increased by 3ft 7in and the lower rear fuselage ventral fin added .... to improve aircraft stability during asymetric circumstances and in order to comply with British CAA demands. These features were added to all subsequent B707 libe aircraft .... though the ventral fin was later dropped during B707-320B production.
Anyone interested in following the development history of the B707 line might like to familiarise themselves with our feature appearing on the "AIRRAFT HISTORIES" page of our forum .... entitled "EVOLUTION OF A LEGEND - THE B707 FAMILY (part 1 & part 2)".

I don't any longer have the photo references I sent Tony for this repaint .... but .... I think everything's OK.
A minor detail really !

Thank you Tony for this latest addition of the LH 707-420 short tail. It look's great.
I did take a look at the original photo's and to answer Wolfgang's question there were no emergency exit markings on the wings. I believe they were not applied until sometime later in the 60's along with the window exit outlines.
However, as Mark mentioned it is only a minor detail.

I think you are right, I tend to use the stock textures for the wings I guess I am just idle I will see if I can sort out the paintkit and make corrections, I assume the "walkways" were a later addition say 1970's???
