Here is a very RARE version of N354US seen in its final scheme with Northwest Orient seen in late 1972. RARE in that the earliest 5 ship series of the 707-351B-SCD series numbered N351US-N355US were the first retired from NWOA service from 1971-1972. Most of this group left NWOA in their 1960's livery, but a few including N354US was one of perhaps a very few of these "first 5 pioneers" painted in the then brand-new 1970's era NWOA scheme. Some minor details are still to be added, including US flag behind the reg numbers on the fuselage in the back. {normally this scheme did not have the US flag back by the reg number, but on 354US there is photo evidence they had the US flag added behind it} along with cargo LD3 container logo work. Overall, this is the beginning of an ambitious several ship series covering Northwest Orient's 1970s era livery, with a follow on covering the earlier 1960's era as well {and that includes the 720B}. For this livery series on the 707-300B/C series, this will include the 707-351B {one of two models I can find in straight passenger configuration - N780US and N781US}, 707-351B-SCD {N354US as seen in this scheme preview}, the 707-351C in combi/passenger rig seen in 70's livery and a hybrid 60's tail and 70's fuselage livery, and finally the converted 707-351C freighter in Northwest Orient Cargo livery. Enjoy!

Looks "TERRIFIC" John .... keep up the great work !
There's something "REALLY CLASSY" about that NORTHWEST ORIENT livery .... I've always quite liked it even though I've never seen it for real.

Thanks Mark I wished they kept this scheme and marketing name overall. They were a GREAT airline to fly on during the 1970s and up to the mid-80s. When Donald Nyrop was running NWOA, it was a fantastic carrier. Once he left, it started a gradual dive. Culminating with the Republic Airlines merger. Once they took over Republic {which was a great airline all by itself}..things went completely downhill. I last flew them in 1998 Trans-Pacific. {FWIW- I've sworn by Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines ever since. There's simply no comparison with these carriers service levels. US mainline carriers have gone the copycat Southwest route overall and have screwed up the concept of individuality with service. Now it's atune to choosing a bus ride. Nothing else. That mentality stinks when it comes to long distance travel overseas and avoid it completely. Hence, I enjoy EVA AIR's Deluxe Economy Class product, the other carriers mentioned are superior with amenities in standard economy class as well. Dragonair is fantastic for regional flights to/from Taiwan also. I'll also give good mention to Vietnam Airlines two years ago from TPE-SGN, getting a nice upgrade to Business Class for my family and I to Saigon for a 9 day Vietnam holiday covering Saigon, Hanoi and Danang-Hoi An.} I've made some small changes adding the US flag and some detail of the cargo area on this one. Here we are headed to the Twin Cities from Seattle, all settled into a nice cruise. Real Weather providing delightful inflight conditions for a photo shoot with a modest tailwind getting us to KMSP under 2 hours according to FSNAV. I totally enjoy George's panels with these 707s. They add a whole new dimension to the simming experience with them. Thanks a bunch George!! Rear Right side view showing US flag next to the Reg number.. Left side front on view.. Don't do this with your 707 inflight, compared to the Convair 880 which was already built like a flying brick shyte-house; even when modified with the cargo door opening inflight it seemed okay, per my CV880 book..but I would not advise the same with a 707 ;D Northwest Orient logo detail on the cargo LD3 containers.. This one and my first of 3 Uganda Airlines models are enroute to you tomorrow Mark. Am working on the Uganda Early scheme and a Northwest Orient 707-351B passenger model now. {Messing with the PSD's to have it organized all on one PSD for each side or the plane to make it easier. The original 707-320C PSD now has close to 20 different layers I've added onto it just for the Northwest Orient schemes. The Uganda Airlines ships are getting up there too. Found some fantastic stuff for the flag on the tail of the earliest scheme and I think I've nailed down the fuselage font as a base to get right for that one..the late 80s version isn't going to be as difficult as I thought it would be either..} Regards John
