GUY AMERICA AIRWAYS was formed by an ex PAN AM pilot .... Anthony TIRRI.
The new airline was approved a CAB international operating license and commenced scheduled services between New York a Georgetown Guyana on June 2nd 1981.
The company also planned servicing the Caribbean destinations too but this never came to fruition. Instead the airline commenced charters services to Europe under the AMERICAN OVERSEAS AIRWAYS (another rare subject for you Ben .... the "mean green party machine") banner.
The company's operating certificate was eventually withdrawn during March 1983 due to CAB and FAA violations.
The airline operated a fleet of several B707's acquired from both AMERICAN AIRLINES (as I think is the case with Ben's subject), and PAN AM.
Prior to the suspension of its services the airline also acquired 3 DC8-62's but these never entered service.

Con mucho gusto amigo ! YEAH .... undoutably that's all they did ! Drop the "N" off the original "AMERICAN" name .... then add "GUY" .... then change the colour of stripping which is already masked anyway .... and then add you're own tail logo. This methos of attack is a lot cheaper and not uncommon throughout the airline industry .... even now/today ! They appear to have done something similar too in respect of their AMERICAN OVERSEAS AIRWAYS livery. Looking at an image of that particular livery it looks like the basic green and stripping of TRANSAVIA HOLLAND. Tenga feliz navidad amigo ! Mark C AKL/NZ

That's OK Dan .... sometimes I type faster than I can think on a keyboard that needs replacing anyway.
Pump a few ice cold STOLICHNAYA's or MOSKOVSKAYA's into me .... and eventually I can talk "ANY LANGUAGE" that nobody else can understand .... let alone read also ! ;D
