I'm curious what other freeware our Users consider to be high-end.
My personal top 3: - HJG aircraft (in particular the 707 for it's well modeled panel and when it's finished probably the 146 too) - Project Fokker (especially the F-28, for it's more vintage panel) - David Maltby aircraft (I like them all, but the trident has a VC which is a big plus)
PS: I wanted to supply links to these websites, but I don't want to offend any of the HJG staff members, so could you guys tell me if that would be alright?

L049 CONSTELLATION .... by the team at FS DEZIGN.
SAMDIM DESIGN team products are very good too .... specialising mostly in Russian airliners.

For AI in my opinion you can't get anything better than the CalClassic AI-packages. For flying aircraft, it is no secret that I have a soft spot for the VC10 from David Maltby, especially one distinct aircraft. Very closely followed by the 707's, 720's, DC8's and CV's in that order ...(I can't just remember where from... ) "The others" from CBFS (in fact they are all good and a represents a broad variety of type for any taste) I'm sure there are other good freeware aircraft out there, but I don't need them :-) "AFCADS" for either FS9 or FSX, especially from Jim Vile, Ray Smith and Reggie Fields are also a must a long with the sceneries available from CalClassic The "aquarama" is an absolutely MUST-HAVE for your water texture in FS9! Along with the Real Environment for FS9. (Btw. a new version REX is in the doing although it will be payware it is indeed something to look for) Tools must be ADE for FSX and AFCAD2.1 for FS9 in connection with Sbuilder/X both a FS9 and FSX version available. I think I'll stop here, and let other vent their advices

Come on HJG is the best freeware, exept those paints by that Ben idiot!
My favourites are pretty bland but with the correct mods they are better than payware.........
Anything by Erick Cantu, All of the POSKY stuff, All of the CBFS stuff as far as civvy goes........
as for military..... All of the UKMIL models, Tim Conrads fleet and all of the Simshed stuff (RIP, long live Skysim!)

Well Dan, it looks like I have some downloading to do.
I'll certainly give the aquarama a go, since I think that's where FSX beats FS9 the most.

I would most certainly do that "PC"...
If you also decide to go the AFCAD-way, be careful not to imply duplicate AFCADS....
A strict sense of order may proof its worth here, as duplicate afcads is seriously NO-NO's in FS.... and mostly the culprit of " ... my FS did CTD's and I don't now why...."
That goes for both flavours of FS...
And if you have payware AFCADS as well, not following the "standard" it can be a bit of a detective work to find out....
But definitely worth the struggle, and once you get into it, you'll find yourself a Virtual Flight spotter, sitting and starring dumbfound into the screen for several hours, and the family will be sure that this time you've gone completely wacko it....

In NO particular order:
PROJECT TUPOLEV and its TU-154b2 and TU-154M. The majority of engineer systems are modeled plus 3 different navigation systems. They are finishing a final version of the TU-154M which promises to model systems never seen before in FS! Plus a great IL-62M and its Rectangular Approach Pattern!
SAMDIM DESIGN and its AN-24RV. Great NAS-1 and even comes complete with fuel calculator! Dimitri is also involved in a payware A320.
SCS and its TU-134A. You can even do ILS on NAV-2!
HJG and B707 (great INS), DC-8, CV-990A and BAE-146 (great panel)!
CALCLASSIC and its DC-6 and 7. Plus you get sceneries for the classic period (50's and 60's) for the Central and Western USA and the majority of Europe.
FSDEZIGNS Great L-049!
DAVID MALTBY for its Autoland!
RICK PIPER and the HS-748 (nice design)!
FRASER MCKAY for its superb panels for a raft of turboprops of the 50's and 60's!
RFP and its now freeware 747-200 (very heavy on fps)!
IFLY and the b747-400 (good FMC and the only one I can use)!
PROJECT FOKKER and its complete F-28, F-70 and F-100!
TOLMACHEVO TEAM for its great Russian sceneries!
UFF! That's more than 3!! And there are more...
Soft landings!

Thanks to Dan, I am now a Real-Environment user and I must say, the sky and water look stunning! Great Tip!
I was wondering if there's a patch out there, that improves the default ground-textures aswell?
