Didn't the early 707-320Bs retain the ventral fin of the turbojet -320s and Conway -420s, as well as having less efficient high-lift devices than those of the later 707-320B Advanced and 707-320C?
(I assume all -320Bs offered by HJG are the Advanced variant, as none include a ventral fin).

"NO" .... Nick is quite right. The ventral fin was later dropped completly from the majority of -320B's and all of the -320C's. As a matter of interest: No -320's were ever upgraded to -320B standard after service entry, but, a number of late 320's were in fact upgraded to -320B's on the production line .... which is how they came to have ventral fins .... as I understand. Again I've briefly touched on this in that B707 article entitled "EVOLUTION OF A LEGEND - THE B707 FAMILY" .... which you'll find on our "AIRCRAFT HISTORIES" page. Must "OFF" now .... got a flight to catch in a few hours time. Hasta luego Mark C AKL/NZ
