I downloaded the 707-120, 320C, and 420 models and panels, and the heading adjustment knob on the autopilot and the heading bug on the HSI don't seem to change the heading regardless of what mode the autopilot is in.
Also, the flap position indicators on the panel aren't working. The flaps move, but the indicators don't.
I have FSX SP1 installed.
Thanks.

WELL .... that's all news to me ! Have you downloaded and installed the B707 Core Files from the top of the B707 panel downloads page ? Not much (if anything at all) on these panels will function without the Core Files first being installed. Have you ensured the BATTERY switch on the F/E panel is set to "ON" ? Nothing will work on these panels if that's not first done. POSSIBLY MORE IMPORTANTLY .... if you're using these panels in FSX, have you cancelled/removed/renamed the default FS2004 PANEL.CFG file (named panel.cfg) .... then activated the FSX specific PANEL.CFG file (named panel_fsx.cfg) by then renaming it panel.cfg ? I also strongly recommend you take time to familiarize yourself with the extensive "B707 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" on the ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT forum page .... "IF" you're new to our B707/720/C135 aircraft models and panels then this's essential reading .... it then potentially save me a hell of a lot of writing ! ;D Mark C AKL/NZ

Yes, the core files are installed. The battery switch is on. I have removed the FS2004 .cfg files, and activated the FSX .cfg files.
I've also read through the installation and handling notes to which you referred, and I have FSUIPC 4.2 installed. I also have the panels installed in the FSFSCONV folder as recommended, and am aliasing the panels to that folder.
Everything seems to be working fine except for the three things I mentioned....the bank angle selector on the AP, the flap position indicators, and the heading bug on the HSI.
None of these problems make the aircraft unflyable, of course......just a bit annoying.

OK .... "IF" you're sure you've done all of what I've suggested correctly .... then this's really got me "STUMPED" .... because I can't then imagine what might be the cause of these problems.
Certainly I'm not aware of any of these issues being reported previously either in FS2004 or FSX .... except where folk have not installed things correctly according to prescribed instructions .... or failed to activate the appropriate AIRCRAFT.CFG and PANEL.CFG data in the case of FSX only.
Sorry I can't throw ant further light on this. You shouldn't be experiencing any of those problems at all .... everything should be fully functional.
I'll have to delegate to our FSX specialist for his opinion now .... when he becomes available !

Let's just concentrate on one thing at a time... which model/panel/livery do you want us to start with?
Preferably if you could give me the file names of those files you've downloaded I'll try to recreate the scenario.
One or two other things: Which OS do you use, and on which SP. And which version of FSX do you use. FSX, RTM or +SP1 or +SP2 or +ACC+SP2... a lot of questions but the more precise you could describe your scenario the more precise the help can be. Also, try to write down as precisely as you can the way to re-create your observation. I will then try to follow you instructions to the point, and see if I can nail the culprit ;-)
I have myself tested all our current files in FSX+Acc (sp1+sp2) on WinXP SP2 and haven't seen the mentioned problems... I'm sure we can get to the bottom of this.

I suppose we could start with the 707-420 model since I recently used it.
For the model and textures I downloaded the 707-420 base pack and the British Airways 1975 texture. For the panel I used the set of core files and the 707-420 panel. I also used the 707 effects file and the 707-420 soundpack.
My computer is running Windows XP Media Center Editon w/SP2, and FSX w/SP1. Dual-core Pentium, 2.8ghz, 1.5gig of ram, and an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT video board.
Let me know if you have any other questions for me and I'll try to answer them, and thanks for the help.

This might seem like a silly question .... but .... I there's a very sensible reason for my asking it ....
Inside the downloaded B707core files package there are 2 folders .... 1 containing 3 panel gauge files .... and the other containing panel sounds.
These folders are named "GAUGES" and "SOUNDS" respectively.
I want to know precisely where abouts in FS you've installed following the 3 B707 panel gauges files ....
707-120.gau 707-320.gau 707-LATE.gau
Additionally .... I want you to physically confirm these 3 files are actually installed and present wherever in FS you believe them to be.
Again however .... nobody I'm aware of has ever reported the problem you're experiencing.

Having any luck? Hi Gary Sorry I haven't come back to you, but real life matters and a lot of work on the site has kept me busy lately. I've re-installed my B707-420 like you described , but haven't had time yet to give her a roll. I haven't forgot you though... I'll soon be back to see whether or not I can reproduce the errors you describe.

OK .... that's precisely where they should be .... so .... that's 1 possiblity eliminated.
Just 1 other question ....
You did download "ALL" your files from "THIS/OUR" website (HJG) I trust .... or .... did you get them from elsewhere/another website ?

OK .... that's yet another possibility eliminated ! Sorry I can't seem to be of much help .... but .... neither myself or any of our team (or anyone else I'm aware of either for that matter) have run into the problem you're describing. Other than hazard "suggesting" maybe a corrupted download (and to try downloading and resinstalling everything again) .... I'm buggered if I know what else to suggest to be perfectly honest ! Again .... I've "NEVER .... EVER" hear of this problem before ! Mark C AKL/NZ

I've already tried downloading a new set of files and a new installation. I even did a complete re-install of FSX...not for this issue, but because my old hard drive was getting too full....and I still have the same problems.
Fortunately, the planes still fly well. More of a PITA than anything else.

Anyone else got any suggestions they want to contribute which might assist "GARY42127" resolving this problem ?It seems he's got all the right bits from the right places .... and got them in the correct places too .... then turned on and off all the right panel switches too ! I'm really all out of ideas now .... and at risk of once again sounding like a stuck record .... I simply haven't experienced myself nor received reports from anyone else either regarding this particular problem .... and that's based on my 2 years of experience testing these panels as well as association with a large number of folk I'm involved with personally and whom use these panels in both FS2004 and FSX I'm buggered if I know to be perfectly blunt ! Open forum now ! Mark C AKL/NZ
