Try as I might, I could not get them to show in FSX using either method. Spent two days, first attempt directly into simobjects\airplanes then into simobjects\HJG. Great tutorials, could not ask for better, just this old man is certain that he is doing some small thing wrong and cannot figure out what it is. Uninstalled FSX late last night (real early this morning) and will use FS9 instead. These A/C are absolutely the best addons. Have been enjoying them since they first came online. Given a Connie and the HJG 707 I just don't need anything else. Thanks Dan

I'm sorry you thought you had to remove FSX. Just because you're old, doesn't mean that you are beyond reach [Start of Rant] I thought I'd written everything down, even illustrated it, but apparently not .... Yes I'm sure it's very tiny mistake on your side that is the culprit. I tend to believe now that almost 80 out of 100 "no-shows" is because people don't understand the file/path cross-reference indeed the simple concept of file recognizing in FS/FSX. Actually there is nothing different in FSX from FS9 when installing the aircraft. If you make the errors in FS9 that you have made in FSX, I'm sure you will get a no-show in FS9 too. It really isn't magic.... No Panel = No show ... simple as that ! Period! be it FS9 or FSX no difference here. The only thing that is different is that the developers haven't done the brain-works for you FSX-wise, and most people have been spoiled by the developers throughout FS9. Your only task has always been to unzip the contents into the aircraft folder and off you go. You didn't have to check the references between the folders, and you didn't have to rename two files....! Obviuosly those simple task are very difficult for a lot of people.... [End of Rant] Having said that, I would be pleased to help you out with your troubles when you decide to go FSX again ;-)

I appreciate your response, (probably could have written it myself) , and I do thank you for your offer of help when I reload FX.

You are always welcome, give me a shout via PM, and I'll see what I can do for you.
If anything revolutionary turns up that would be helpful for the general public, I'll post our findings in this thread.

I am having a problem in fsx also. I installed the DC-8-10 and everything looks great, but for the fact that the smoke trails are not lined up with the four engines, but instead go vertically from the ground up. Seems like an odd occurrance. Can someone help?

I am also having problems with some of the aircraft, i have downloaded the E3-C V6. and the KC-135R V5. These models look absolutely brilliant online but i cant seem to get them onto FSX. I also do not know how to add a new texture to an aircraft which i always thought you would just drop the folder for the textures into the aircraft you want to add them to. could someone please help me? thanks Cameron

Hi Cameron and welcome to the forum.
Forgive me for answering like this but, I've written TWO tutorials and hand-helped one individual in public in one of the threads here. So please use these 3 guidance's to try to solve you problem. I will not try once again to go through the whole scenario.
if you by reading the 3 guidance's still have problems then return here with a specific question. Not as general as you just did. A problem with a specific texture, a specific Panel or sound etc. but not a general "The aircraft doesn't show, what shall I do..." It has been answered too many times, and there is no place to do it again.
Please understand that I'm willing to help anyway I can with any specific questions you may have. But I do not see the need for any further descriptions of how to install HJG-aircraft into FSX. That issue has been covered more than enough...

Hi everyone and especially Dan, you've written some great tutorials and indeed..it's not that difficult to understand the paths and their respective references but......
I've installed the BAe146 with KLM-uk livery and the plane does show up when selected, turns around nicely looking great ; also the "details"section within the Select Aircraft shows up nice; when I then want to go flying it gets to the point that it wants to start loading it sticks with 0% and fsx freezes up..
Feel really silly posting but maybe there's a simple answer? I did turn off DX10 by the way..
best wishes, Peter

Peter .... I think I know what might be happening here.
PLEASE NOTE: The BAe 146 panel is a complex piece of work. It does take a wee while for it to load. This loading time will vary from system to system .... but .... on some PC's can take as much as a couple of minutes or so .... during this time it may create the impression that it has "hung". the same will occur too when exiting the BAe 146 panel for another FS aircraft
Just give it all the time it needs and you should be OK.
Also .... be advised, that so far as I'm aware, the BAe 146 panel "IS NOT" FSX compatible .... so .... if you are indeed realizing a system "HANG" then it may be on account of this.

Hi Mark, i've given it plenty of time cause the simple loading of the BAe146 from the select aircraft allready took half a minute...so in fact..it's just not for fsx, helas.
To see if I made an error I downloaded the DC8-50 in KLM livery and planted it into fsx the same way (according to the "DAN" tutorial) and everything works a treat!
Thanks for the reply, let's go flying ;D

Hi You might have gotten a clue if you had read the very first post in the BAe support Forum. Or at least just the headline .....

Hi Dan, I did get the clue (I.ve read the BAE support forum) but I'm boldheaded in these matters and cause I got thus far with the process that FSX was on the brink of loading I thought that there might have been a clue..
Anyway, thanks to your tutorials i do manage to mget the other planes flying within FSX..
Best wishes Peter
