From an old(er) 80's era AWACer... Any chance of an E-3A model...circa early 80s? With or without the flag (there's a story there...I can say I had a small something to do with the flag appearing during BGen James/552CC tenure). It would need the old basic -320C model, without all the esm stuff they've since added on. Just curious if it's "do-able"...it's an older, dare I say, "historic" model... Cheers, Dave...963/965 AWACS alumni...(and NATO, 2 Sqn)...)

Sorry for the slow response... move this to repaints as you see fit. I'm looking for the E-3A...circa mid 80s...TF33s, no sensor pods under nose or on fuselage sides. squadron stripe (yellow was best!) was at the top of the tail, US flag mid tail, with tail number below. US Air Force title was further forward on the fuselage...and we only had 1 satcom antenna back then...(and monochrome displays...real men...arrgh arrgh...) I'm sure airplanes.com have a pic, can I post one if I find it? EDIT: airliners.net...found one (edit again, delete link....copyright stuff...search Boeing 707-300 USAF...theres a takeoff shot on the first page of one, they call it a -B but they were pretty much identical to the -A) Thanks, Dave

That's the one Chris...old "balls 4" (to go along with balls 2&3 as I recollect). The squadron stripes (963rd-black, 964th-red, 965th-yellow) came with a reorg that actually associated airframes with squadrons.
