I had a LG 19" Flatron CRT monitor on which I ran FS at 1600x1200x32 with a refresh rate of 100. It has now finally given up the ghost!!!
I'm looking at buying a 19" LCD monitor. However, I need some advice. Most of the specs for a 19" give a max res of 1280 x 1024. Can one still run FS at 1600x1200 on these monitors or are the graphics at 1280 x 1024 on LCDs just as good as a CRT at 1600x1200 ?

Hi, The best results on a LCD, you get with it´s native resolution. In my case 20" 1400x1050. All higher or lower resolutions will only be interpolated. For FS use, it is the best to buy not a widescreen ( 16:9 or 16:10 ) That is also true for many other games out there. But if you want to look DVD and/or BD films, it is the best to buy a widescreen. New games will also have widescreen capabilities. After all you have to make a second decision about the panel type. VN or PN PN is faster and cheaper but has a limited field of vision. VN is normally a bit more expensive and has a more stable field of view. ( better usable for Photo editing etc. ) The third decision you have to made is about the backlight type of the monitor. ( fluorescent tubes or LED backlight ) LED backlight is much better, but at the moment very pricey. Best Regards Wolfgang PS: A last hint : Look for a 20", 22" or 24" LCD if you have enough space on your workplace.
