Having just installed FSX, I discovered that my CH 4 engine Throttle Controls were not functioning.
I recall that in FS2004 I had to add quite a lot of information to the "devices cfg" file, in order to get the throttle quadrant to work properly. At that time it was required to do this because FS 2004 did not recognize multi-engine throttles as they had just appeared on the market.
With FSX I would think that this would have been included in it's configuration. Also I can't find any "devices cfg" file in FSX.
Any advice regarding my problem would be greatly appreciated.

It appears that by doing a bit of research and comparing the throttle control axis settings in FS2004 to those in the FSX and changing the settings to those in FS2004, I have been able to rectify the problem.

Hello Dan;
As with numerous others who have had problems with the HJG 707 panels in FSX, I am now joining the ranks. The following is a description of my current problem.
So far I have only installed the 707-120, with it's associated panel in FSX. The panel displays OK, until I select one of the auxiliary panels such as the throttle control, overhead panel or flight engineers panel, at which time the panel appears, followed by a computer crash. The same happens when I sellect the beacon or nav lights.
Any suggestions on how to correct this problem would be appreciated. I do have both FS2004 and FSX on the same hard drive. Don't know if this would have any influence. Everything is working good in FS9.

sounds a bit like an underpowered Graphic Card issue. Now I do not know your system specs in ralation to number of CPU's amount of RAM, type of Graphic Card, Operation system and service pack level, including service pack level of FSX....
There shouldn't be any troubles with running FSX and FS9 in parallel. I also like to know when you last updated DirectX ...
I presume you have accepted the warning pop-ups when starting up the HJG aircraft? as there is a warning from FSX if you want to use this or that gauge. If you DO NOT accept this the gauges/dll's will not be available for FSX, and thus something is boud to go wrong...
I do also presume that you have used the correct config-files (the one with FSX in the name) and you haven't tampered too much with the files ;-)

Thank you Dan for your prompt reply. Below are my system specs.
Intel Pentium4 One CPU rated at 2.8 GH 1.5 GB Ram Memory
Video Card= Radeon X 1600, 512MB
Windows XP; DirectX9.0c ( I have not updated this as I believe this is the latest version)
I have installed the latest versions of the HJG 707-120 and panel according to your install instructions for FSX. I am not recieving any pop-up or fault messages when I select the aircraft.
I will now install a HJG DC-8 to see how it responds in FSX.
I hope the above information will help to diagnose my problem.
Cheers; Herman

I would categorise your system as a somewhat below adequate for running FSX. But it shouldn't be the reason you experience crashes.
Hmmm... initially you should have received a warning of the, say, 707.gau or something like that, asking you if you want to run it. Once you've answered Yes to that you won't see it again until you install a new version.
I've had somewhat similar problems but that was a long time ago. You might try to run in Windowed mode instead off full-screen.....

Yes Dan, I did receive those warnings on the initial activation and yes, I probably should upgrade my system.
In the meantime I did install the HJG DC-8-40 and I have had no problems at all.
I will try your suggestion and run the 707 in Windowed mode.
Thank's Dan

Dan, just to let you know, I have tried the 707-120 and associated panel in the Windowed mode and it is working OK. No PC crash when activating any panel switches.
Thank's again.
