I agree ! CONTINENTAL is a very worthy subject .... both with the red tail logo and the earlier black version for B727-200. That image is quite unusual .... in that the aircraft featured bears CONTINENTAL tail and fuselage titles, but, with PEOPLE EXPRESS fuselage cheatline .... rather than the definitive gold, red, orange CO fuselage cheatline of the 1970's/80's era. I've not yet searched .... but .... did CO operate the -100 with either of these 2 tail liveries ? Also .... were any of the CO -100's & -200's ever operated in the airlines earlier "GOLDEN JET" tail livery .... as applied to both B707 & B720 ? Mark C AKL/NZ

I still can't find any imagery relating to the early "COLDEN JET" livery for either CO B721 or B722 though .... assuming it ever existed at all on these aircraft. "IF" anyone's got any such imagery then can they please post it here There were five 100s, specifically -24Cs, operated only briefly from 07/67 to 08/68. Supposedly these wore the Golden Jet livery, but photos of them are VERY rare. Continental and Air Mike also operated -200s in the current CO livery. Nick

I just might have the answer here; look in Airliners (#79 Magazine pg 45 mid page) you can see a Continental Golden Jet 727-100 or 727-22C ? The Photo is 75% visible. A blast fence at Boeing Field blocks the rear horizontal stabilizer and left wing. Also this issue has Air west and Pacific Airlines DC9-32 and 727-100 photos respectively. Airwest and Pacific Airlines are predecessors of Hughes Airwest. They also flew 727-100s . Only payware and AI repaints avail. Very rare photos avail in Books, Airliners.net or in Magazines. Airliners at LAX 1956-1976 book has an Airwest 727-100 for reference on page 90. Airwest 727-100 photo pg

Wow, I guess I started the ball rolling on this one I've always liked COA's liveries..very unique and I have a a soft spot for the airline in its fomer incarnation before it took over the Braniff routes. "Continental and Air Mike also operated -200s in the current CO livery. Nick " Never heard of Air Mike, but I like the sound of it Mike

It sure is.
It's actually the Callsign for Air Micronesia, a sub under Continental.
