Followed meticulously the "About HJG" notes - very clearly written - but cannot get the engines to light off. They turn over fine from the ground power/bleed air but I don't get any fan rpm or epr.
Works - of course - using the wretched old Ctrl + E but what fun is that? ;D
Using FSX/Accel which I love dearly except I have a devil of a time manually starting many a/c, something I miss as that is really a big part of the immersion.
Any other experiences like this or tips?

STRANGE !!!! Even "STRANGER" because I'm not aware of anyone else who's had such an experience. There must be a step in my startup instruction which you may not be following correctly After starting #3 engine (the first engine that should be started) and then shutting down/disconnecting from the ground generator .... as you advance the #3 throttle to achieve 30-35 PSI on the AIR PRESSURE STARTUP gauge (if you don't achieve this then the engines can't be started) check also that the N2 gauge is indicating at least N2 88%. Alernatively leave the ground generator running after starting # 3 engine .... then "DO NOT" run engine # up to N2 88% (you will already have sufficient nuematic air per the ground generator anyway) .... and simply continue starting the 3 remaining engines precisely as instructed per my notes .... disconnecting from the ground generator only after the last engine is started and running stably. Try that and see how you get on ! Mark C AKL/NZ

I sensed this too after some amount of researching!
Well, right you are! What it was, believe it or not, seems to have been that I have been using another add on aircraft for my "default" flight. Dusted off the C172 and reset that as the default flight, saved it, etc and now I can get the old Convair lit up fine using both methods.
I have always had high regard for HJG's work but am in love with the Convair 990A - the sounds - the start up procedure is terrific with the ground crew communication etc - THE SMOKE - and an added bonus - the speed - this is one fast airliner!
Thanks and regards Mark for you prompt reply and help.

That's our pleasure "EXPAT" I'm pleased to know you've resolved the issue and are now able to fully enjoy the CV990's from strartup to shutdown .... and "YES" .... I enjoy flying those CV990's too. Get that sucker up to around MACH 0.92/95 .... and it suddenly feels a shame to have to start slowing down as one nears TOD .... which sadly .... on fast CV990 flights just seems to arrive al that much quicker. ENJOY ! Mark C AKL/NZ
