Hi guys, I would like to learn the art of repainting, I have Paint Shop Pro 8 with Win Vista & FSX, would anyone be willing to help with learning ?, I know there are tutorials out there that are helpful but if I could ask someone now and then when I get stuck it would be appreciated, if not thats fine.

How familiar are you with PaintShop? Become very familiar with masking techniques, working with layers, alpha channels, then have a go at painting. I thought I was pretty good with PaintShop when I tried my first plane only to realize I didn't know how to do Bezier curves very well. The tutorials on-line are very good. I relied heavily on the one posted at Calclassics website when I first started painting. Plenty of us willing to help if you get stumped.

Hey thanks very much, I might be having second thoughts on using Paint Shop Pro 8 as I read it doesn't work well with Vista, might try GIMP its free, whats your thoughts on GIMP ?

GIMP is OK, as far as a freeware program. You get more than you pay for of course. I'd stick with PSP8 if I were you. A new update will come along for it.

I'm using Paint Shop Pro V9.01 on a Vista machine with no problems. Corel acquired this company a few years back.

Use your PSP and just do something simple for now like change the registration
Then perhaps try changing the chaetline colour or something similar.
Use the GJ Smith tutorials to get going as Tony suggests.
Do your own thing and pick up each bit at a time. Don't try and do a serious paint straight off as you may get frustrated and even pick up bad working practices in a vain effort just to get it done.
Keep it fun and suddenly it will all snap into place and then you can go for the real stuff.
There is little point in asking advice until you have mastered the basic programme workings for yourself because you may not understand the answers.
When you have grasped the basics then you will be able to pose specific questions which is much easier for us to answer without getting too technical and scaring you off.
Don't be afraid of it..........make a copy of an existing paint and try making a simple change. Once you know you can get the change showing in FS it is a simple case of buiding up from there.
