I just installed the new b727-100 and 200 base packs. I had no problem installing textures dated 19 June 2009 or later. I had to change the sim= line in the Iberia textures dated 19 June 2009 to enter the new model in B727 advanced.
But I have not been able to have any of the installed old textures (i.e. older that 19 June 2009) show in FS9.
As an example I attach a comparison between the textures of Intercontinental Colombia installed in B727-100 late, (which does show in FS9), and American Airlines installed in the same aircraft (which does not so show.
[fltsim.0] // Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0 title=Vistaliners Boeing 727-100 Intercontinental Colombia 1992 sim=B727100_VL model= panel= sound= texture=intercontinental_colombia_1992_022_hk-3798x atc_id=HK-3798X atc_parking_codes=AES atc_heavy=0 atc_flight_number=100 atc_airline=INTERCONTINENTAL ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_type=727-100 ui_variation=Intercontinental Colombia (1992) description=One of the most successful commercial jet airliners ever designed. [fltsim.1] // Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0 title=Vistaliners Boeing 727-23 American Airlines 1967 sim=B727100_VL model= panel= sound= texture=n1903_727-23_american_airlines_1967 atc_id=N1903 atc_parking_codes= atc_heavy=0 atc_flight_number=001 atc_airline=AMERICAN ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_type=727-100 ui_variation=American Airlines 1967 description=One of the most successful commercial jet airliners ever designed. Can somebody help?.

Probably just a minor CFG file text error ! Usually that's all that causes such issues .... like non-display. Just check that the actual texture file name agrees precisely with the data indicated on the TEXTURE= line of the CFG/ADD TO AIRCRAFT data .... and if it doesn't then just edit the TEXTURE= data in accordance with how the TEXTURE FILE actually reads. The critical values on any CFG file are bold typed as follows .... [fltsim.0] // Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0 title=Vistaliners Boeing 727-100 Intercontinental Colombia 1992 sim=B727100_VLmodel= panel= sound= texture=intercontinental_colombia_1992_022_hk-3798xatc_id=HK-3798X atc_parking_codes=AES atc_heavy=0 atc_flight_number=100 atc_airline=INTERCONTINENTAL ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_type=727-100 ui_variation=Intercontinental Colombia (1992)description=One of the most successful commercial jet airliners ever designed. Production totaled 1,831 aircraft between 1963 and 1984. \n\n Repaint by Camilo LUENGAS visual_damage=1 atc_id_color=0x00000000 atc_id_font=Verdana,-11,1,600,0 id_font=Verdana,-11,1,600,0 The slightest error in either TEXTURE FILE naming, TEXTURE= data, or SIM= data .... is sufficient to cause an aircraft to not display at all within the FS aircraft Selection Menu. Additionally .... check too that you haven't inadvertently got a valid file (either TEXTURE, or, AIRCRAFT BASE PACK) still contained within another containing folder from the ZIP file .... this sometimes happens too ! I note that the TITLE= line of the AMERICAN AIRLINES subject reads "B727-23", whereas that of thee INTERCONTINENTAL COLOMBIA subject reads "B727-100" (my own preferred edit) .... but .... this shouldn't make any difference at all. This's the first report I'm aware of regarding the failure of any of Tony's textures to appear in FS .... but .... we're all human .... and as such .... none of us are immune from making small errors of course Mark C AKL/NZ

Thank you,
The problem is not with the new textures, like Intercontinental Colombia, but with the ones that have not been updated after the new base packs. The Anerican Airlines textures mentioned as an example (updated on 22 Dec 2008) do not appear in the aircaft list of FS, and this happens also with textuers older that June 18, 2009. This seems to be related to the new base packs, which have been updated on June 18, 2009,

There's nothing wrong with "ANY" of the aircraft texures and there's no need for any the December releases to be updated either !
And "ALL" the aircraft base packs are fine too !
In fact the recent aircraft base pack updates were restricted to just engine, fuel flow, weight, and flight performance data .... associated with both the AIRCRAFT.CFG and AIR files. No other changes were made .... !
Out of curiosity I've rechecked a few of the first released aircraft textures, along with some of those more recently released, and againt their newer aircraft base packs .... and I'm not experiencing any display problems at all.
I'm not currently aware of anyone else experiencing similar display problems. I'd expect to see a forum full of complaints if this were otherwise a more widespread/general issue !
I'm sure you'll find there must be a very minor error somewhere within your B727 file structure .... i.e. either your AIRCRAFT CFG file, Panel folder CFG, or, Sound folder CFG must feature an editing/aliasing such as error to cause these aircraft not to display within your FS Aircraft Selection Menu.
Kindly check the lot ("EVERYTHING") once again please .... VERY CAREFULLY !!!!

I've successfully used the 'older' paints on the 'new' HJG 727s. There is no difference at all so far as repaints are concerned. One thing I'd suggest is to open the HJG 727 config file and COPY one of the previous aircraft entries to an open space below the others, then modify the texture and airline info as necessary for the paint you wish to add. Don't forget to renumber the copied data to follow the last aircraft entry. Make sure the texture info matches the texture file and you should be good to go.
It's the little details that are frequently overlooked that can cause one to chase their tails. By using a previous config entry that you KNOW is correct, you should minimize the gremlins.

To Aerofoto:
Before posting my querry I had tried all kinds of things to make the airplanes show, without success. I consulted the forum to see if others had had the same problem, and although I found two that did, their probelm was diffrenet than mine (they at some point did something wrong). In summary, I did EVERYTHING right. I have had this same problem with downloads from other sites.
I have a new computer with Windows Vista. So, after your radical reply, I installed the new 727 basepack and the American Airlines texture in my old computer which runs on Windows XP. The texture did show perfectly in FS.
Therefore, in conclusion, the problem seems to be Windows Vista or cfg files related. With Windows Vista, in order to modify the cfg files in FS, I have to first copy them outside FS, modify them, and copy them back to the relevant aircraft folder, but for unknown some reason, only the new textures are visible when running FS. Others have reported this problem in other posts.
Probably the best solution is to install Windows XP in the new computer.
To Rpjkw11:
Bob, I have tried your suggetion, but it has not worked. Thank you .

Problem solved.
I copied the whole VL B27 100-late folder that I had in my old computer, pasted it to the aircraf folder of the new one, replaced the old panel folder with the new one, and now I have all my old liveries showing in FS, with the new panel.
I am happy again.

I mean, I copied the "OLD" VL B727 (v1) folder that I had in my old computer into the new computer.

Eserice, glad you solved your problem. Sometimes 'starting over' is the only thing that works.
Cheers,

Hello eserice;
New computer, with Vista, I experienced the same problems you were having. I will try your suggestion and let you know how I made out. Also had the problem of not being able to make changes to cfg files. I solved that by making changes to Administrator and Account settings.

I/we'd be interested to know if this resolves your issue Herman OH NO .... nothing "RADICAL" there .... intended or otherwise What was suggested is simply standard recommended procedure here .... based on several years of experience. It's often difficult to identify immediate causes of issues per on-line forums/support like this. "AT THE VERY BEST" .... we're only outsiders looking in .... and can only try to interpret, as best we can, what folk try to communicate to us, as best they can. Most of the time we can only resort to our past experience with apparently similar issues in relation to what we think the most probable cause of any particular problem is likely to be. Of course we're also aware that WINDOWS VISTA .... is fundamentally "different too, but, there again, nobody here .... within this group/HJG .... so far as I'm aware .... currently uses it and which is likely why we, couldn't offer a suggestion regarding this and as to the possible nature/cause of your particular issue Mark C AKL/NZ

Hello Mark;
Unfortunately I had never installed the 727 on my old computer, so I can't follow eserice's procedure. I did however, re-install the 727-100 into my present system, and low and behold the aircraft did show up on the selction menu. I selected it and again it displayed Ok.
I then proceeded to display the panel view and the 747 panel came up. Obviousely, I had forgotten to change the panel cfg so I went back to the file and made the correction. I re-started FSX and this time there was no sign of the 727 in the aircraft menu. Now I am a bit baffled. I am beginning to feel that FSX and Vista are a real pain in the A... Fortunately I also have FS2004 on the same system and it is working just fine.

HI eserice;
I never did write down the steps I followed, but I believe it was similar to the steps as outlined in the first link above by Dan.
