Now that I've got the 721 up and working fine how can I get rid of that constant ticking sound ?, I know its realistic and all and the file name is : rp727_altimeter.wav, but I can't find it in the sound folder.

Are you looking in both the general sond folder, and the soundfolder within the specifik aircraft? Or try to do a search from the top level of you FlightSimulator folder ....
Btw. good to hear that you got your 727 working !

From reading the manual this is the sound that keeps the altimeter needles from sticking ?, as soon as I select the 721 from the FSX menu I hear the sound even before the 721 is loaded, I've looked thru all files, even made sure I have "Show hidden files & folders" selected and I don't see a "rp727_2 altimeter.wav file in the root FSX folder or the 721 or panel folders, also it says you can reduce the volume using "Sound Recorder", what is that, can't I just delete the file if I can find it ?

WELL .... if your're referring to what I believe you're referring to .... then you can remove that sound simply by going to the FS SOUND folder (where you should have all the B727 panel related WAV sounds installed) .... and identifying the single WAV sample named .... "rp727_2_400hz" .... and then removing it !!!! But tell me .... why the hell would you want to do that ? Be advised .... that upon removing that WAV sample you're simply then going to be denying yourself an excellent slice of audio authenticity. What you're hearing there (avionics/gyros/inverters .... actually recorded aboard one of these aircraft by Richard PROBST) is "PRECISELY" what one hears on the flightdeck of these and many other aircraft types (on some it's this particular sound and on others, like our B707's and DC8's, it's a constant "whine" of varying tones according to aircraft type and equipment) .... when they're on the ground and connected to an energy source. This can still be heard after the engines are started, but less so, when the aircrafts systems are then connected to its own generator source. In most of our simulations this sound .... intentionally .... becomes active as soon as the aircraft is selected from the FS Aircraft Menu. The choice is "YOURS" .... of course .... but .... as I said above .... if you do remove that sound then you're only spoiling the authenticity of your own audio ambiance within FS .... in my own honest but humble oppinion.Mark C BOG/CO

Thanks Mark, I've been weighing realism vs. annoyance, will probably keep it.

"GOOD" for you ! I don't know how you've got you FS SOUND sliders (in FS OPTIONS) set up, but, what you could try and do (if you think that avionics WAV sound is irritating) is to reduce, slightly, the "cockpit" sound slider .... but .... doing this will also reduce the volume (proportionally) of both Flap and Gear sound that is audible too when these are selected. Thing is I don't mind the ticking sound inside the cockpit, thats realistic, what gets me is you hear that ticking everywhere, before you load the plane in FSX, and outside the plane both on the ground and in the air, if you select the 721 you get the ticking right away, inside and outside.

Would there be a way to get rid of the ticking outside the 721, and before the plane is loaded ?

Other than by doing what I suggested yesterday (removing the stated WAV file .... which I, personally, still wouldn't do) .... then the straightforward/honest answer to you question is "NO".
SORRY .... but .... that's the way things are, and have to be, if you propose to continue using the B727 panel line which we offer here.
There will be no future revisions to any of these B727 panel files.
I also need to say too .... that I'm not hearing that sound at all in external viewing mode and in FS2004. In fact I'm getting nothing at all but pure external whine/hiss .... of the type that may be associated with a running APU on these aircraft. What you say you're observing/hearing may indeed simply be FSX related
I don't then believe we can go much further with this at all !

Yep, had a feeling it was FSX related.
