Hi,
For checking the PIREPs sent by our company pilots and increase the professionality of our operations, we need some weight data of this aircraft that we could not find in the documentation included in the package.
Is it possible to know the Maximum Take Off Weight (MTOW)?
Thanks in advance,
Lluís

I'm showing MGTOW data for the entire DC8 family to be as follows ....
DC8-11 MGTOW = 273,000 LBS DC8-21 MGTOW = 276,000 LBS DC8-31 MGTOW = 300,000 LBS DC8-32 MGTOW = 310,000 LBS DC8-33 MGTOW = 315,000 LBS DC8-42 MGTOW = 310,000 LBS DC8-43 MGTOW = 315,000 LBS DC8-51 MGTOW = 276,000 LBS DC8-52 MGTOW = 305,000 LBS DC8-53 MGTOW = 325,000 LBS DC8-54/F MGTOW = 315,000 LBS DC8-55/F MGTOW = 325,000 LBS DC8-61/CF/F MGTOW = 325,000 LBS DC8-62 MGTOW = 335,000 LBS DC8-63/CF/F MGTOW = 350,000 LBS DC8-71/CF/F MGTOW = ? .... probably same as -61/CF/F DC8-72/CF MGTOW = ? .... probably same as -62/CF/F DC8-73/CF/F MGTOW = ? probably same as -63/CF/F
There may be slight variations between some of the DC8 sub model types .... particularly in respect of those aircraft built as pure freighters and devoid of PAX furnishings etc.
Also .... I could be wrong (because I have no reference information, at all, regarding any of the -70 series DC8's), but, so far as I'm aware the certified MGTOW's for these aircraft remained unchanged from those of the -60 series aircraft .... although I understand the actual payload, for each type, was reduced somewhat due to the weight of the CFM56 turbofan engines.
I hope this tells you what you essentially want to know !

Hi,
Thanks for the information Mark.
For flying reallistically those weights are important data to know as our PIREP system checks whether the weights at "block off" and when landing are within range. On the other hand, althoug the real values can be found in the net, usually are not exactly the same as those for the virtual airplane and it is better to use the latter ones.
If you have the values for the:
MTW - Maximum Taxi Weight MTOW - Maximum Take Off Weight MLW - Maximum Landing Weight MVLS - Maximum Vertical Landing Speed MZFW - Maximum Zero Fuel Weight OEW - Operating Empty Weight
This would be great for those of us trying to fly as reallistically as possible.
Thanks in advance,
Lluís

Lluis, lemme help you there. If you ever need information on any Boeing or McDonnell Douglas product, you can use the following link to get all the info you need - www.boeing.com/commercial/airports/plan_manuals.htmlI don't know where you'll get MVLS as that's not something routinely identified in documentation except maybe maintenance manuals. For the DC-8-55, the relevant information is - (In LBS / KG) MTW - 328000 / 148781 MTOW - 325000 / 147420 MLW - 217000 / 98431 MZFW - 190000 / 86184 OEW - 138266 / 62717 One note - the HJG models match this information exactly, so real = sim in this case.

Hi,
Thanks for the web page. I already have it in my bookmarks but I was not sure if it could be applied to the DC85 we use in Catalonian Airlines.
A BIG THANK for taking the time of typing the weights.
Best regards,
Lluís
