Hi there, I've installed a lot of DC8 models and they work fine. Only on my DC8-72 and DC8 73 models the nose gear is stucked in one position as is the rudder. The aircraft will make a turn on the ground but with the nosegear in one, the forward, position, as is the rudder..................strange? regards

Sounds like you've got the YAW DAMPER selected "ON".
Make sure you've got the YAW DAMPER selected "OFF"

Thanks.... I've tried it...................YAW DAMPER "OFF" even with CTRL-D (FS default yaw off). But with no succes..........all the other DC8 models work just fine, only the -70' series not.

Something in the Aircraft.cfg file isn't correct (or missing?)? Dee

That's interesting .... because apart from engine related data (for the current panel engine gauges) we've not ever messed with anything there (in any of the DC8 CFG's) at all .... to my knowledge ! "ARJEN" .... can you check whether or not this same nose gear and rudder issue occurs with the DC8-62 .... just a "hunch" I've got at the moment ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Thanks, the -62 just work fine... look at the picture. It's just only the -72 with the problem regards, Arjen

Perhaps I am wrong, But your image of the DC-8-72 shows the rudder and nose wheel to be in it's normal position.
I have on occasions experienced something similar, and it was my rudder pedals that was causing the problem. I was able to rectify the problem by just exercising or just moving the rudder pedals back and forth.

If the -62 works, then the -72 has gotta work too. B'cuz they're the same model! Dee

That was my "HUNCH" .... which I referred to above There's been no significant CFG modifications (not by us at least .... and of a sort that might implicate NG animations etc) to any of the DC8's, so, there might be something in what Herman has shared above also .... assuming that "ARJEN" might be using pedals. Hello arjen;
I have just loaded the DC-8-72 & 73.
Sure enough there is no rudder or nose wheel deflection when I press the rudder pedals.
All the other DC-8's ( 62\63 ) work OK, so thre must be something missing in the FDE or CFG.
I will have a look to se if I can find the problem.

If it works for the -62 and not the -72, then the problem is not with his hardware. There must be <something> different about the -72.
How can the -62 and -72 be the same model if the engines are different?

What Dee means is .... In respect of 3D model fuselage, wings, and landing gear (let's ignore the FDE .... onbviously) our DC8-62 and DC8-72 represent precisely the same 3D model .... the only difference being that the -72 versioon required different engines with different animations being modelled especially for "IT". To that extent .... and ignoring the FDE, and engines too, the -62 and -72 "ARE" indeed the "SAME MODEL". Getting back to the problem now ....In the past .... I recall this type of NG/rudder issue to have been a YAW DAMPER "ON" problem (because it was peviously reported, several years ago in fact, and resolved as such, but, "ARJEN" assures us he's checked that the YD is indeed "OFF". "AJEN" .... just a thought ....Open your DC8-72 AIRCRAFT CFG.FILE .... scroll down to the AUTOPILOT section .... then note the YAW DAMPER GAIN= line .... and please advise us precisely how that particular line currently reads in your CFG.FILE. Additionally .... would you also open the CFG file for any othr DC8 you have and which demonstrates perfectly functional NG and rudder animations .... and advise us regarding any differences in the same CFG.FILE YAW DAMPER GAIN= value.I'm "speculating", only, that this's where the problem "may" be located !
