West Coast Airlines DC9-14 reg N9101

Was delivered new to the airline on Sept.16,1966
Crashed on October 1st,1966 fifteen days after delivery.
This was the first crash of a DC9,a sad historic event

I hope that when DC9-31, North Central "Herman" is done that the original "Gold Feather" scheme is done. Everybody skips over that one and goes for the later simplified scheme.

I did Greg & Tom's CV580's in that scheme, and I tried to do the JCA DC9-31 that scheme, but was not happy the way it turned-out.....

Looks like some were painted all gold on the lower fuselage from the wing back,but I'm not positive on this due to the angle of the photo's.

I'm sure Nick would know regarding this subject?

N954N became another unfortunate loss when it hit the rear of a Delta CV880 on take-off at ORD on 12/20/1972.
