Now that there are new models broken down by engine, which textures are supposed to be used with each engine? I haven't seen a listing anywhere, and with some models, especially the DC-9-30, with multiple engine variations, this will be confusing.

There is no hard and fast rule, as engines changed during the airframes life. As a rule I use the older liveries with the lower numbered engine and the newer liveries get the higher numbered engine. I believe the liveries are engine interchangable as long as you keep to the same model, so a DC-9-50 could get the -15 or -17 option - your call!

Don't use the JT8D-5 option for the DC-9-10s -- only three aircraft of this model (DC-9-11) were built, none of which are currently hosted by HJG.
The registrations of the DC-9-11 aircraft were N945L, N946L and N947L. All were later re-engined with JT8D-7 powerplants.

While as the line went on they generally tended toward the higher powered engines, for Series 31s use JT8D-1,-7,-9 or -11. For the Series 32s use JT8D-7,-9,-11,-15 or -17. For the Series 33 use the JT8D-9 or -11. And for the Series 34s use the JT8D-17 except for serial numbers 48123 and 48124 (originally built for Ozark as N927L and N928L) which use the -15.
If you want a specific aircraft's engine, just let me know what the manufacturer's serial number or original purchasing airline that you are looking for and I can let you know what the plane was built with.

There were other DC-9-10s built with the JT8D-5 engine. In fact I can find 26 of them; 14 DC-9-14s built for Delta, 3 DC-9-15s built for KLM, 4 Air Canada DC-9-14s, and the three DC-9-11s built for Bonanza Air Lines. Nick

YEAH .... 20 odd aircraft is precisely what I found during my own research too .... and among which are included some of the very early DELTA aircraft for which we "DO" have textures for ! Some of these lower powered JT8D-5 aircraft were later upgraded to D-7 powerplants .... unless I'm mistaken Mark C AKL/NZ

As Nick has offered (thank s Nick ) state the C/N or L/N of the aircraft you want to represent .... and we can then advise accordingly. Both Nick, and myself, use the same Bible. Beyond this offer .... I have actually posted information to aid such selections .... among postings associated with the website update notice .... and also .... within "SECTION 1" of my DC9 PANELS INSTALATION & HANDLING NOTES .... and which states as follows .... Google is your friend, well some of the time.
I googled "Reliant N915R" and the engine variant and relevant info came right up.
Not quite so readily with the KittyHawk, Kellita, or Evergreen planes though.
Mostly you get info about where the aircraft went after, or where it was prior to these operators.

Best way to do that .... what I do at least .... is to GOOGLE the aircraft regiistration .... which usually results in a C/N and a L/N for each aircraft.
Here's what I've got for you in the case of your preferennces ....
EVERGREEN INTERNATIONAL DC9-15F N916F C/N 47044 L/N 165 .... use JT8D-7 DC9-10F base pack and JT8D-7 DC9-10F panel !
KALITTA CARGO DC9-15F N901CK C/N 47154 L/N 201 .... use JT8D-7 DC9-10F base pack and JT6D-7 DC9-10F panel !
KITTY HAWK CARGO DC9-15MC N561PC C/N 47013 L/N 141 .... use JT8D-7 DC9-10F base pack and JT8D-7 DC9-10F panel !
RELIANT AIR CARGO DC9-15F N915R C/N 47141 L/N 232 .... .... use JT8D-1 DC9-10F base pack and JT8D-1 DC9-10F panel !
That's about as accurate as I can recommend .... given the aircraft.
It also pays to note that some of the D-1 powered DC9-10/15 powered aircraft were upgraded to D-7 powerplants later .... with possibly even a few (very few) D-9 conversions much later on still according to evidence I sourced a wee while back.
