Fantastic work on the new panels.!!!
...I have so far only installed the -10 and will work with it for a while to learn it before the rest of the dc9 family...two snags to report...Shouldn't there be some hotspots around the airspeed indicator for manual setting of the bugs ? Also, as I found with Stellan's originals.. it seems the hotspot for the "bowtie" test button is a little high .. otherwise, this is a work of art!!
Thanks

There are !
I've actually covered this within my DC9 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES (which also serves as our forum manual for the DC9's) as follows .... see the last 2 lines of the following quote in particular ....
Regarding the BOWTIE instrument.
What's been provided for us by Stellan remains "as is" in respect of this particular instrument. We've not changed this at all !
In fact unless something really warranted change (like engine related gauges in respect of the performance parameters of each of the several P&W JT8D engine types we now reprepresent .... along with the WX Radar and Dual ADF features which we've added) then we've not changed it at all.

No problem "ROSS" ....
Using your Moouse Curser .... just feel around the outside edge of the ASI.
Those Hot Points are there .... and extend for quite a way around the outside edie of the ASI.

Back again..
I have reloaded the dc9-10 and fired up the APU...everything is set for simple ground maintainence...I can find hotpoints around the edge of the ASI but they only seem to duplicate the action of clicking in the center of the gauge..ie swapping between 5 deg. or 15 deg. flap speeds. I have been assuming from the handling notes that these hotpoints were to adjust the speedbugs individually as desired...Perhaps the assumption needs replacing?
Cheers RB

They "ARE" there .... "silent hot spots" (no visible button/tab) .... around the outside right edge/rim of the ASI ! Using your Mouse Curser you'll have to feel around the outside right edge/rim of the ASI in order to find these. The ASI speedbugs can then be manually manipulated (+ and -) by clickng these hot points. However .... the recommended procedure is as follows .... Always click ("once") the center of the Total Fuel Weight gauge first in order to adjust set the Total Aircraft Weight scale .... THEN .... click the center of the ASI ("once" or "twice") as is necessary according to the desired Flap settings and in order to set the speed bugs automatically. READ SECTION 3:1.7 and SECTION 3:1.8 OF THE FORUM MANUAL (DC9 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES) REGARDING THIS When the center of the ASI is clicked in order to set the speed bugs automatically .... this action "MAY" then also limit further manual manipulation of these speed bugs to within the automatically calculated range .... but .... I'm not certain at this point ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Hello All.
If I may.... ... some using the new DC-9 panels may wish to make a change so that the WARNING/CAUTION Annunciator ( Bowtie) test button in the overhead panel ( labled INST WARN TEST )will illuminate the Annunciator on the Pilot's panel. If so, find Gauge 13 in Window 3 of the panel .cfg and change it from
gauge13=d9sh!bowtietest, 926,167,25,23 to read gauge13=d9sh!bowtietest, 936,216,25,23
..this should move the click spot to the correct position.
As part of your preflight you should now be able to test the display by clicking the INST WARN TEST button once...switch back to the main panel to see that the annunciator is illuminated..then return to the overhead and click it again to extinguish the display.
Nothing new..it was just misplaced in the original version.
Cheers Ross

Hello Mark...
Thanks for more on the bugs...I'll look again without clicking the center first.......

OK .... I've now had a much closer look at the these speed bugs. I was aware, from the very begining that these could be moved, manually, using hot points located around the outside right rim of the ASI gauge itself .... but .... upon closer inspection .... it now seems these hot points only advance the ASI speed bugs according to the same precalculated FLAP 5 or FLAP 15 speed values as is achieved when clicking the center of the ASI. In other words ..... it's not possible to further manupulate these ASI speed bugs outside the precalculated range of speed values for each flap setting. This appears to be the way in which this particular gauge is designed/programed, so, I very much doubt we'll be attempting to adjust it further. I will however adjust my DC9 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES so as to clarify this particular detail. Sorry if I put you crook guys ! ;D Our recommended procedure for setting these ASI speed bugs is therefore as follows .... Firstly .... click the center of the TOTAL FUEL WEIGHT gauge in order to automatically adjust its outer TOTAL AIRCRAFT WEIGHT scale (around this gauges outer rim) to reflect the total aircraft weight. This's essential for the ASI speed bug settings to be calculated correctly in conjunction with aircraft weight and flap setting.
Secondly .... click the center of the ASI ("once" for FLAP 5 and "twice" for FLAP 15) in order to automtically set the ASI speed bugs according to values which are appropriate for flap setting and in conjunction with aircraft weight.
Do this all in the above specific order.Mark C AKL/NZ

Hello Mark
thanks for checking...didn't mean to cause this much trouble. I was hoping that the flexibility of that feature as in the DC-8 ASI was there...still, as in my original post..a work of art!!
Happy Flying Ross
