I can't seem to get any of the Boeing 727's installed properly to run in FSX on Vista OS. Have installed the B720's with no problems. When I copied the texture to another 727, changed the .cfg file to read that fsm # & texture line, it does display in the thumbnail, but screen is black when click ok. Appears not enough in the texture file? I started with the early 100 series.

whatever's causing your aircraft to not appear within the FSX aircraft selection is likely to be "a very minor but critical CFG editing error" on your part .... on the basis of inocent misdunderstanding.
One thing that has come up recently in respect of FSX istallations is the fact the default PANEL.CFG and SOUND.CFG files feature the FS9/2004 B737-400 ALIAS= data (intentionally I would add) and which, for FSX, must be edited to reflect the new B737-800 ALIAS as applies to that sim version. This could be the reason why you're aircraft won't display.
Also check that you're also using the right aircraft textures with the correct aircraft basepack .... failure to do so can result in an AIR.FILE name not then matching the AIRCRAFT.CFG SIM= data name .... and result in "a black window" with aircraft not displaying within FS.
Failing that .... I believe you need to follow precisely Dan's FSX installation instructions which appear on the FSX SUPPORT forum page.
Dan's gone to great trouble/lengths of providing 3 different methods of installation .... all of which work .... and one of which "MUST" resolve your particular problem.
Hope that helps somewhat !

Do our current 727k panels work in FSX?

They "SURE ARE" .... or .... "SURE AS HELL WILL BE" .... if only folk activate the all-important FSX PANEL.CFG as opposed to forgetting about the default FS2004 CFG panel assignment within each one of these downloadable FSX compatible files.

Hello Falcon;
If you were able to install the B720 into FSX successfully and have a problem with the 727 the problem could be due to the fact that the folder structure for the B720 and the B727 is somewhat different.
The B720 base pack contains only one folder after unzipping.
The B727 base pack contains a second inside the first folder after unzipping. You must open the first folder to expose the second. it is this second folder that requires to be copied and pasted into your FSX aircraft folder.
The same also applies for the textures.
Take a look at this and let us know if that solves your problem.

aerofoto was correct in his assessment of installation problems on the 727. I had the wrong texture installed in the wrong base etc. To correct all that, I made several Temp folders. The first I put the zip files of the 100 series followed by the appropriate panel so I had all files pertaining to the one series aircraft in one place. Then unzipped them and followed the directions to the letter and guess what? It works. What a great Sim. Whoever designs and makes these aircraft for FS is very talented and patient in their making sure these craft are as original as possible. I'm fairly new to FSX add-ons, but spent many years in a real cockpit. Thanks to all for their suggestions.

The B727 models were all made by Erick CANTU .... one of FS's most talented designers, but sadly, who has since droped FS completely due to unnecessarily critical/absusive commentary by some of the community at large.
The B727 panels were all made by Richard PROBST .... another fine desinmger in this field .... and then modified by our very own George CARTY .... yet another highly talented individual.
And .... the FDE was originally written by Erick CANTU as well, but, very extensively modified my Mike MONCE, George CARTY .... and lastly myself too to a lesser extent.
