i don't know if this is a common problem but my internet searches didn't show any results for this.
basically, running FS9 when external effects I.e contrails or engine smoke kick in, if i have the spot view zoomed in too close to the aircraft (primarily from the nose on view) the screen will white out/brown out if it is with the engine smoke effects.
does anyone know if there is a fix for this at all.

I think what you're experiencing there may be a common, or known, FS issue .... in that if one zooms in too close to some aircraft then the effects can/will start to obliterate/monopolize your external view completely.
The same is true of smoke effects with parked aircraft .... with breaks on and when on any RWY .... should one wish to run power up like this (as might be the case with the very early turbojet powered B707's and DC8's), whilst in external viewing mode, and prior to commencing ones T/O roll.
That's been my experience at least .... and I'm not aware of any fix for it .... but .... someone else might have a suggestion/solution to offer.

yeah normally it is only from the head on view but i'm giveing the posky revspray a go on one of their models and it completely monopolises the view even out to a fair level of zoom (sometime it will even effect the tower view)
