I've been attempting to set up the INS, using the set up instructions provided in the panel manual, for a long distance trans atlantic flight and am encountering some problems. 1. How is the "Next WP\Previous WP selector used. Is the Ramp position to be set at "0" The instructions do'nt mention anything about that. 2. I proceed to #3 of the instruction put in the co-ordinates for N and when I try to put in the co-ordinates for E nothing happens. ie. the E does not come up. Please advise if I am doing something wrong or missing. Thank you. Herman

I'm not actually familiar with any of our INS panel systems Herman (INS is probably the only detail relating to any of our panels which I'm not currently familiar with) .... preferring instead VOR to VOR NAV, paper charts, and just plain old "DEAD RECKONING" on all of my long flights .... so .... I'll need to delegate to someone more proficient/experienced than myself in this respect.
All I can say is .... I'm not aware of any problems .... other than that the currently available HJG B707 INS is not FSNAV compatible .... but .... which is something that's about to change with the new B707 panels GAUGES/CORE files package which we're about to upload and which will render all HJG B707 INS FSNAV compatible.
FYI .... a similarly FSNAV compatible GAUGES/CORE files package, and 5 new INS equipped DC8 panels, will also be uploaded within the next HJG website update.

Herman you can get your current position from using shift+Z which you enter into the INS once the northing's are entered hit insert then enter the easting's. destination coordinates can be taken from AFCAD.

OK, thanks Mark and hitperson.
The last time I used the 707 INS was quite some time ago, probably prior to the last panel upgrade and revision. The INS then was a a little different and it worked pretty good for me.
I have all the co-ordinates from the ramp, enroute WP's to my destination. I can load (insert) the ramp co-ordinates but then that is it. When I try to load the first WP it accepts the North co-ordinate but will not the accept the East. ( the E will not come up on the display )

Hello Captain;
Good to hear from you. Thank you so much for the youtube links. They are excellent tutorials and describe the INS start up procedure with great detail.
Actually the HJG instructions are pretty well the same and the reason as to why I was not making progress was really my error, and the tutorial helped to put me on the right track.
Thanks again. I should be ably to get under way now.
